I've been really concerned since the game on the weekend and this is the first chance I've had to post - apoligies if it's already been raised.

The Lonergan incident happened right in front of me --- whilst I was proud of his courage and committment to the contest the same can't be said for my thought's on some of his team mates. There's been alot spoken of which has questioned how tight this group of players is at Geelong, and what I saw in the moments after the incident have only added to concerns about lack of leadership.

When Lonergan went down I made a point of saying to the person next to me ---- "watch how Geelong reacts and that will tell you where the club is at".

Sure enough there were only 2 players that acknowledged Lonergans efforts. Corey Enright straight after the incident as Egan followed Miller to another contest - and then Egan himself after a goal had been scored and Lonergan was helped off the ground and walked past Egan at CHB.

Call me harsh - but I was ashamed for the club and embarrased for Lonergan. Try telling me that other clubs would'nt pick up on that sort of stuff for future reference.

I see your point, but I'm prepared to cut the players a bit of slack on this one. The only other player near the incident was Egan, and he had to play on as play didn't stop for the incident and the ball went into Melbourne's forward line. Tom was then helped of the ground while play restarted after Melbourne's resulting goal. I remember seeing Enright giving him a pat on the back as he got up, but I dare say most of the rest of the players were so focussed on the game, given how tight it was at the time that they simply didn't have time to think about getting accross to him.

Exactly TGTOA.

Give me a break, TL wouldn't be thinking 'Oh, only two of the guys supported me, boo ****ing who'. He'd expect them to get on with it, as they're 1 man down.

As do I.

I really wonder on the validity of this player infighting issue.

for anyone who has never been pretty badly injured on the footy field (myself never anything close to dropping a kidney), Tom probably wasnt paying much attention to what was going on while he was getting off the ground.

Great to see Boris' acknowledgement though, please dont trade him. Has been quietly going about his business, but is brilliant when on song.

Also reading Bomber's comments, seems Lonners will not be delisted, as many were calling for earlier this season.

Nice pic!

When a player is badly hurt, especially concussed, they others don't go near, they tend to form a group - the leaders will usually talk to them. In this case he did get up and walk - they may not have thought it so serious. After all, who did at the time?

I imagine he would have been offered a contract based on his form in the game anyway. Bomber put it best - he finally looked comfortable out there, which he hadn't before - just took some time.
