Funny how "fleeting contact" is not a new phenomenon. It's always been a thing with any strain, we were just told that to scare us into submissionWe have both strains
If we beat them, we beat them both

The government doesn’t need to say anything to ‘scare us into submission’Funny how "fleeting contact" is not a new phenomenon. It's always been a thing with any strain, we were just told that to scare us into submission

There are pretty much two groups of people. Those who see what’s happening around the world and want to avoid, they don’t need convincing. Then there are those who think we are somehow above that happening to us, and they can’t be convinced.
Perhaps not India. The US and Europe though? Absolutely. I definitely know what happened in Victoria last year can happen again. If you think what is happening in India can happen here, you clearly know nothing about the conditions in India.
Or the denseness of the population in India, USA, Brazil and European countries. If you think what is happening in India can happen here, you clearly know nothing about the conditions in India.
So now you are comparing Australia to the US and Europe.Perhaps not India. The US and Europe though? Absolutely. I definitely know what happened in Victoria last year can happen again.
CorrectSo now you are comparing Australia to the US and Europe.
Genuinely embarrassed for you
LOL
Correct
What’s the difference - especially with regards to the US?
We aren't all spread out across the entire country though are we? 90% of our country is barrenJesus Christ that is an embarrassing question.
Australia has one of the lowest densities in the world. The US has 35.71 people per square km compared to Australia which has 3 people per square km.
Educate yourself
Conveniently neglecting the shitty healthcare system the US has and the fact that if you have no job you have no healthcare so good luck during a pandemic. We aren't all spread out across the entire country though are we? 90% of our country is barren
Victoria sits at 28 people per square kilometer. Minnesota sits at 26.3 people per square kilometre and has had 603,000 cases and 7,500 deaths out of a population of 5.6 million.
So it doesn't matter in Australia that we have lockdowns because we have a good healthcare system so you don't need a job?Conveniently neglecting the shitty healthcare system the US has and the fact that if you have no job you have no healthcare so good luck during a pandemic.
Now you're trying to justify lockdowns because we have a better healthcare system than the US.So it doesn't matter in Australia that we have lockdowns because we have a good healthcare system so you don't need a job?
It's good to see you've gotten to the right result but the method is... questionable
Sure, we are protected. But once you let it in, there goes that protection. What's the difference then? Now you're trying to justify lockdowns because we have a better healthcare system than the US.
Stop trying to compare two vastly different countries.
Australia is much more protected because we are an island. All of the countries you have referred to are nowhere near as secluded and have much less opportunity to keep people out. Apples and oranges
So now you've got to the right answer with a questionable methodSure, we are protected. But once you let it in, there goes that protection. What's the difference then?
Who's responsibility is it to stop it from getting in?So now you've got to the right answer with a questionable method
The government is shithouse and has let it in every time. Both state and federal
Yet you continue to blindly follow them and try to justify everything that they have done
And you know who pays for it every time? The citizens while the government locks down because that is all they know what to do
Hasn't been their fault every time. It's got out of hotel quarantine at times through the butchering of the Victorian governmentWho's responsibility is it to stop it from getting in?
Constitution says: Federal
It's their fault every time because we are 15 months into the pandemic and they have done literally nothing to improve the system set up overnight by the states. Everything has been on the states.Hasn't been their fault every time. It's got out of hotel quarantine at times through the butchering of the Victorian government

Nope.Do you bat one out to a picture of Dan Andrews every night or something
You are genuinely sitting there trying to justify every mistake the government has made and trying to put every single bit of it on the federal government, who mind you, have been shithouse too.
How is it that Victoria has recorded 90 odd percent of the deaths? Must be someone else's fault.
How has victoria ended up in lockdown 4 times and under much more severe conditions? Only happens in Victoria.
Other states haven't needed such harsh lockdowns to get on top of things.. whose fault is that?
Seems you're admitting the Victorian government is a cluster *Nope.
I think Victoria's contact tracing system this time last year was absolutely f’ed and unwillingness to lockdown equally poor. I also think the way the border closure with NSW panned out was poor. I think there should be a review of contact tracing because despite it being undeniably very good throughout this outbreak, it obviously missed a link between the index case and the outbreak found 20 days later. We should always be looking to improve upon our systems that protect us. I also feel we may have missed an opportunity to lockdown slightly earlier, once we knew the outbreak had been spreading for 20 days it was probably clear then. Perhaps that shaves a week off the overall lockdown length. Also now we know the West Melbourne cluster is linked to a HQ breach in Victoria, the cause should be investigated and ways to improve the system further explored. We know the federal government won't do it.
Again, nope. Most of the things I point out are things that have been happening. Contact tracing is constantly improving, last time we had a quarantine leak we paused the program to completely overhaul the ventilation system at hotels, the border system now is much clearer, and we've sure as s**t learnt to not wait until 100+ cases a day before locking down.Seems you're admitting the Victorian government is a cluster fu**
