Had a day off today so thought I would catch up on a few video game related docos, including:

High Score (Netflix)
Console Wars (YouTube)
The history of Bethesda (noclip)
The Witcher 3 (noclip)

Console wars was excellent, so cool to see how Sega took on Nintendo, would live to see a modern one with Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo.

The noclip stuff is also great, very good insight.

Are there any others I should check out?

I won’t watch noclip produced stuffThat guy’s a total waste of energy and brainpower. I won’t support him.

And the Netflix show is also shit.

Might check out Console Wars, though.

Thanks for the recommendation.

I'm a big fan of insights into dev studio goings on/making ofs, so I found these fascinating.

I remember watching a documentary a couple of years ago called Nintendo Quest. A guy tries to purchase all 678 NES games within 30 days without buying any online.

Was it Pat Contri?

Have you seen the War Stories videos on Ars Technica YouTube channel? Some really interesting videos by the Devs of popular games like Thief and Dead Space and how they almost didn't happen due to a particular problem during development.

I came across this series when they kicked it off with Ultima Online which is probably the game that had the greatest ever impact on me

Yep same very good youtuber

So many memories of my parents taking me to blockbuster and renting the latest Sega Master System/Mega Drive games. When I started high school Blockbuster had Mega Drive and Super Nintendo kiosks that you cloud play would wag school to play some Mega Drive haha

Not a documentary but a really interesting read about programming graphics and some of the techniques behind games from a graphic programmer who worked on games like Witcher 2, AC Black Flag and God of War.
