Clicked on some bull f*** website and now I have one of those viruses that tries to tell you it's internet security and such. Down in the right hand corner there is an icon called "antimalware doctor" which is part of the virus. Norton doesn't detect anything , how do I get rid of this?

cheers.

I got the same bloody one. Got rid of that, but now I've ran into a whole heap of other problems. Getting websites opening up in new tabs, Zone Alarm (my firewall) is going crazy all the time, my anti virus program is always coming up with a new trojan.

In the process of trying to format my hard drive, but some virus has messed around with the rootkit, and my hard drive isn't showing up in Disk Management, so I can't format it. For some reason I can't even format it using the WinXP CD.

**** these ***** who make these things.

Got it all sorted now. Finished it all up at maybe 3am! I'm usually good with this sort of stuff, but this was a prick of a job.

Tried just about every anti virus program out there. They were all coming up with different results, and none of them seemed to get rid of everything completely. They would keep on multiplying or something. Really done a number on me.

I have no idea why I wasn't able to format in the Win XP set up, it just wouldn't allow me. So I ended up downloading a program, can't remember the name of it at this very moment... You burn the image to a CD, and then boot it from the start. It over-rides the Windows boot up, so then you can partition your drives, format etc from its interface. Got it formatted no worries, then the re-installation of Windows was nice and easy. Thank God I backed up all of my drivers this time before formatting!

Also, just a little tip. Make sure you have an old keyboard handy before you go re-installing Windows. My wireless one didn't work when going through the menus on the setup CD.

Those ***** are real annoying, last time I resorted to removing hard drive, saving important shit (had some assignments on there due the next day) and then reformatting.
Shit sucks.

But when I reformatted I put windows 7 on instead of XP so its ok.

Pain in the arse, isn't it?!

What's Windows 7 like? At the moment, I'm still really liking XP. Been using it for so long now, I don't think I'd like to change anytime soon, and I don't really have reason to. I don't like Vista at all.

Come to the dark side... you will never look back.
