My computer has a virus where often when I try to get on a website instead of the website a page comes up saying that I have the Trojan virus. It says that to get rid of the virus to click on the link to get an antivirus program to remove it, for about $50. What is the go with this?

Dont click.

Its spyware tryin to trick you into giving up all your credit card details and will only install more virus and spyware on your computer.

If you want some decent freeware anti virus and anti spyware you can go to www.filehippo.com

and download free of charge programs like avira and spyware terminator, there the ones i use however there are plenty other popular ones out there such as AVG. There is another thread on this somewhere as well.

Whatever you choose to download in the end, just download the file, install onto ur comp and run updates, then scan and it should pretty much get rid of most if not all the problems for you.

Try the trial version of Nod32 to clean your PC. I've found it the best for Windows XP and earlier. It is my main antivirus tool for cleaning my own PC. I have used it in the workforce and it finds viruses other scanners miss.

After 30 days, you can uninstall it if you don't like it.

Don't use IE, try Firefox or Opera instead. Nod32, AVG, panda security, all of these should help in the meantime

i was using avast it was pretty good but now i use trend micro, that does the job
