****ing vodafone customer service....

"to speak to a customer service consultant directly, press 2"

"please contact your appropriate customer service centre on... to hear this information again, press 8" (they didnt even give another number)

anyway, a word of warning to you other vodafone users, they are going to introduce a flagfall of 20 cents, so no more 5 second calls for just 5 cents

this applies to recharges after july 28. so buy a $100 recharge on the 27th.

PS: if you are like me and virtually only use SMS, this will make squat of a difference.

it's actually 25c and came into effect on july 15, and most prepaid customers weren't even informed (my dad and I were both prepaid and only found out when my mum [on a plan] was sent a letter a couple of weeks back) so i changed to virgin on jul 14. For my uses, it's the cheapest - 20c flagfall, 20c msging and under 1c/second call costs so i'm not complaining right now!

I think an sms is going out to customers to say they are bringing in a 20c flagfall instead of 25c. I heard they were losing people since they announced they are bringing in the flagfall. AAPT use the Vodafone network and have the same deal as the Voda No Plans but its 49c a min instead of 60c, still charged by the second. Only difference is 6 months to use the credits instead of 12 months so it's not a bad deal until they introduce a flagfall as well.

Virgin has a "Go Zero" plan when you pay $8 a month for a Nokia 3315 or 2100 and then you pay whatever call/texting costs you rack up. Calls cheaper than 1c/1sec too, but they do have a 20c flagfall. SMS only 20c or 10c to other virgin users.

I'm on a $30/month plan with virgin, and it's just $30 spending (i.e. calls AND sms rather than just calls) a month, plus anythig you go over. So far it's working a treat for me and for an extra $150 i got a nokia 8250 as well so i'm happy :D

Check out www.allphones.com.au - they're who my whole family has gone thru as we've swapped from vodafone to virgin and they've been really helpful.
