2- Jones
2- McLean
1- Brown
1- Ward
1- Wheatley

:(

Yeah time for a reality check. We had 9 players with less than 30 games experience and the vast majority are under 20 games. That's not far off half the team!

This game made me feel sorry for Carlton, how can they lose to us.

McLean deserves votes, Davey, Godfrey, Jones and McDonald were serviceable, and Chris Johnson showed more of his talent.

McLean - 3
Godfrey - 1
Davey - 1 (4 for 4 goals, -3 for being stupid, hope he gets suspended, his head isn't right at the moment)
Jones - 1
McDonald -1

7 votes will have to do for now.

Hard luck guys. You put up a good fight after quarter time and won the final quarter convincingly. Good luck for the rest of the year - hopefully you regain your stars.

Melbourne were actually older and more experienced than us tonight. We did have more experienced bodies in key positions though.

Our experienced players (Brown, Bizzell, McDonald, Robertson etc.) weren't up to the ilk of the likes of Power, Black, Lappin, J Brown at the end of the day and I don't think anyone expected them to be.

Here is a quote to back that up. :)
Melbourne

Average Age - 24 and 4 months
Average Games - 69.3

Brisbane

Average Age - 23 and 8 months
Average Games - 66.3

That's not really a huge difference.
Anyway, Brissy were too good and we were appalling in the midfield.

I feel the point the guys are saying is that your guys didn't play as well as ours, and that it isn't really an issue of experience but more an issue of form.

Although a few weeks back you were doing very well and we weren't things can be very up and down in football.

To be fair though to us, have a look at the experienced players out there, there are others sitting on the sidelines who'd we much rather out there than the likes of Godfrey, Ward, N Brown, Bizzell (all 100+ games). Replace them with Neitz, Green, Johnstone, Bruce, Yze, Whelan, Rivers and the game might have been a little closer.

Taking nothing away from the Lions performance though, better team won, they just wanted it more.

the averages can mean little to nothing if you look closer
We had a mixture of older players ( Brown, Bizzell, Junior, Wheatley, White) and really young players ( Buckley, Newton, Frawls, Johnson, Dunn, Garland etc) which evens it up in the end but no proper key posts made it one sided.
