This is a good chance for all those of us from WA to get on down and have a say in the WA Blues committee, and to help ensure the WA supporter group continues to grow.

I'm fascinated by this bit.
Dealing with club finances and Police Clearance is a way of limiting exposure to any less savoury events occuring. Just a technical requirement to safeguard ourselves so we do not need benefit of hindsight

Apparently others disagree and would like to replace us all so even if you do not want to stand yourself you are able to vote so I for one would appreciate the support. It would appear other people are not as forthcoming in trying to assist the common good.
Anyway it is a volunteer thing and I/we have tried our best to build one of the best supporter groups around.

will be selected by the committee once the committe is elected
You cannot run for President as such but once you make the comm you can throw your hat in the ring. In the end it is a group effort anyway so there is no real prestige as such in being Pres. Of course the Pres is the most respected and usually hardest worker. Tracey for instance deserves accolades for her tireless efforts and will be a huge loss. People who are standing up and saying that the club is unhappy with us are spreading lies. People getting up and saying we do not do enough and will do this and that are ignorant to the reality. People who claim to be endorsed by famous ex-players are completly out of step with the whole goal of what we are about.
If somebody is capable of doing a better job then go right ahead. My nose will not be out of joint. The goal is to support the CFC and take care of the local members the best we can. It is NOT about personal glory. It is not about profiting from the local members. It is actually about love for a common thing ie CFC, friendship and fun. Some people who have a personal agenda may destroy the essence of what this is all about.
Amazing that people who have hardly ever been to any social events involving the wablues claim to know so much and are willing to pass judgement.

Guns, will the Ants game be on at the Odin on Friday night?

ABC just had an advertisement on - VFL GF will be shown on ABC HD at 7pm. I don't have HD yet but would like to watch the Ants win the GF.

To further build the profile of human being you're describing, it's worth noting that they're also the type of person willing to wheel and deal in fake sporting memorabilia, then resort to extraordinary measures of damage control. :thumbsu:

I was once involved with the WABlues (then the WA Carlton Supporter Group) and from past experience there are always the people who claim to know better and can in fact do better.

It's very hurtful when all your time and effort goes into something you love and love doing and all you get is criticised. I don't think people truly understand the amount of time you actually put in.

Anyway sorry to go off topic, people in WA should get along and support the group.

we will need to talk more about this (rings a bell as I recall)

You would not happen to have a little CFC on the small of your back would you?

Last time I saw you you were still talking Irish (or was that just the alcohol)
I am sure we will catch up soon in Melb and Dave, Tracey you and I can destroy Melb!

Guns, while I can imagine that your annoyed at certain aspects with regards to the behind the scenes talking.

As a complete outsider looking in, (I have been to the Odin on a few occasions), it does not look great airing some dirty laundry online.

All the best in the AGM and I hope the CFC members of W.A come together and support whoever is in charge.

Sorry if I got it across wrong
Actually not bitching as such but welcome anybody coming down
The more people interested the better and we welcome all ideas all the time. We cannot improve things if we do not know what people are unhappy with. Plus new faces and a dynamic environment keep things progressing
I was merely updating people to the state of play so they do not take things for granted

Love ya passion Guns.

Over the past 10 or so years I have seen the highs and lows of being on the WA Blues committee.
After becoming homeless in 2003 (?) we hunted around and after trialling a few alternatives eventually found a great new home at the Odin.
I remember 3 years ago with membership around the 1200 eagerly waiting at the Odin with a few diehard committee members just hoping someone would come in. If we got to 12 it was a great day. Now with membership sitting at over 2500 and regular attendance over 100 things are really pumping at the Odin. I'm not dumb, I know that winning games has made a huge difference however, you can pretty much watch the game at any pub these days. The difference is a great venue and a great atmoshpere - due to the tireless work of the committee and the great enthusiasm of the supporters who come down week after week.

Our charter has and always will be to increase membership, provide somewhere for the WA supporters/members to watch the game together and raise funds for the club. Over the past couple of years we have regularly donated money to the club by way of cash donations and player sponsorship.

There is no personal gain from being on the committee. As all past and present can attest to we do it for our love of Carlton. Carlton have always fully endorsed our activities and consistently hold us up to the other supporter groups across Australia as an example of a highly successful well organised group.

I encourage as many members as possible to come to the AGM and vote for who you want on the WA committee. New ideas and people with the right attitude are always welcome.

Go Blues

Time is running short to get nominations in
Already have some fine candidates
If you do not wish to put your hand up rocking up and voting will be appreciated
