Good to see that the WAFL isnt dead. Would be nice to see someone in here talk about it. Todays 2nd semi was a classic. It saw 14 reports a couple of stretchers and 7 or 8 season ending injuries to subiaco players. Most notable of those injuries look like luke toia with a ruptured spleen, ex port magpies player paul vines looks to be out for 12 months with a knee injury and david sierakowski with another knee injury. All in all it was a close game until subi ran out of players and ep kicked 7 in the last quarter to win by 6 goals. subi might have to play their reserves next week if the tribunal has anything to say about it! lets hope they dont and the subi boys win the prelim and then thrash the pants off east perth in the grandy.

The umpire who reported Mahoney the second time, will be feeling a bit of a dill this morning. The second report meant that the player was banished for the rest of the game, unfortunately the incident was really just two players going for the ball, free kick at most.

The Royals looked more experienced and I think Subi finished with only 17 fit players. The Falcons (I prefer Cardies or garlic munchers) will think they have a good chance with the major injuries to Subi players and players like Fletcher not being eligible.

I missed the first quarter but I thought the umpires over reacted at times. Report players only as a last resort. Frees and then 50's are the first resorts.

I tend to agree, as an umpire myself. But an umpire should not use the 50 as a lever of control. Let me point that out.

On another message board the umpires were accused of being biased towards the Royals, which I thought was perhaps a little cheap, but then I didn't see it myself so I couldn't really say. The free kick count was apparently 25 to 18 in East Perth's favour. Maybe they could have paid more free kicks. I don't know.

Nice to see some of the old fashion biffo at the WAFL again! I only saw parts of the game, but I could tell that the umpires didn't have a good control of the game. The 2 reports and you get sent-off rule is a joke. Richard Maloney didn't deserve to be reported the 2nd time (his charge was dismissed at the tribunal also) and Subiaco ended up with 17 fit men on the field. Surely if they are to send off players it should be for the rest of the quarter (or if it occurs in time on the player should be allowed to return at the 20 minute mark of the following quarter)

Subiaco looked the goods in the first half, but fell down with basic skill errors injuries and reports. Carn the Falcons for the Prelim Final!
