"Waite Ready For Buddy"

Reality check brother. You were playing the team that finished second last in 06. Melbourne are a finals team and Miller is far from a hack. Makes you wonder what Buddy will do to a team of wooden spooners. No argument there chief:thumbsu:

nah...Miller is an absolute dud!!! one of the demons worst IMO

I'm a big fan of Franklin. The waite match up should be a good one, as they are both athletic players who can do well when the ball hits the ground.

Should be a great game, can't wait! :thumbsu:

I think Waite's agillity may be the key to our defence.

We can afford to move him down back - as he adds a lot to our defensive structure at CHB - more so than he adds being an inaccurate forward.

It may sound silly - but our attack is our strong point: Fevola, Whitnall, Fisher, Kennedy, Lappin, Betts etc

While we now have a lot of Tall KP defenders .. most are kids and are still learning.

So im more than happy to play him as a defender - besides Waite's goal kicking is TERRIBLE.

Okay, good points. Hadn't realised Carlton fans didn't rate his goal kicking and didn't realise his importance as CHB. I can only go on what I have seen previously when he has played us.

I think Waite is an excellent match up for Franklin, I wouldn't be suprised however to see Walker matched up on him, Franklins strength isn't his overhead marking so the height diff is not really an issue, Carlton do seem to have more options for Buddy than most.

Waite rebel with a fist

After a solid performance on Essendon forward Scott Lucas, Waite may well match-up on flashy Hawthorn centre half-forward Lance Franklin.

Waite's eager for the opportunity.

"Obviously he is a great player," Waite said. "He plays a little bit like (Scott) Lucas . . . he's just so good when the ball hits the ground. He's a very exciting talent."

Thoughts?

I can't say I watch Essendon play regularly, but doesn't Franklin play more as a quick KP off the HFF rather then Lucas - a genuine CHF?

Strange comparison.

If Buddy was like anyone from Essendon, he'd a taller and more agile version of Hird.

LOL :o

Whoever we put on him, either O'hAilpin or Waite, it should be an interesting match up. Jordan Russell might be a bit of a dark horse to get the job.

?

Does 'more agile' somehow imply to you that I commented that Franklin was as good/better than Hird?

Either way, i'm fairly confident Franklin will do well on whoever he's matched up on this weekend.

Fevola will destroy Hawthorn, you have no answers... so all this talk about Buddy beating Waite is stupid, if Buddy does happen to beat Waite it won't be by much and won't be match winning unlike Fevola ripping apart your very very average defence and beating probably 3 opponents to make a bigger impact on the game. Hawks are in for a reality check. Bookmark it if you like.

Fev probably will destroy us, because Dawson just isn't good enough for league footy, let alone the best FF in the competition. Franklin may not beat Waite, but don't make the mistake of thinking Buddy is our only player. After all we have a small forward that has kicked 60+ in the last two years.
I was impressed with how the blues played against the dons, but really even if we do lose, we arn't in for a reality check mate, it's second round of the NAB cup without Croad, and Jacobs.

GO HAWKS!

Let's hope we maul the No.1 pick kings.

Exactly, not to forget Roughead that - but for his set shot kicking at goal, probably would have snared a 5 goal bag last week as well...

Focus squarely on Buddy at your peril
