Ice Cube Enema Stroke Warning
Australian doctors are warning untrained first aiders to stop attempting to revive drugs overdose casualties by inserting ice cubes up their bums, claiming the increasingly common practise could cause strokes.
According to Sydney gay newspaper The Star Observer, the DIY revival technique has emerged in response to the growing numbers of drug users falling unconscious after taking GHB.
"The sight of the incapacitated person with their pants around their ankles having people inserting ice cubes is beyond humiliating and potentially dangerous," said GHB expert Dr Caldicott from Adelaide.
"Some of the people doing this should know better and should not pretend to be trained medical professionals," he added.
