...are crap.

I can't remember the last time our bowling stocks were this thin. We need to chuck out the dead wood (Angel, Wilson) and start thinking about playing our young quicks, as SA seem to be doing at the minute.

Strike Bowler Options:
- Michael Thistle
- Andrew James

Swing Bowler Options:
- Michael Clark
- Darren Wates
- Sam Howman

If worst comes to worst we should recruit some disillusioned QLD quicks, although they never seem to want to leave regardless of whether or not they’re getting a game.

yes, our bowling is crap. We've struggled for 2 or three seasons to consistently bowl teams out and you can't win games (or first inning points without doing that). But throwing the blokes you mentioned in won't solve the problem.

Michael Clark potentially is a consistent wicket-taker for us but his back is stuffed which makes selecting him a bit of a problem.

Wates seemed to have his action and body back together in the SA game and then injured himself again. Obviously he's out for the time being.

Thistle and James have failed to perform at second XI level the past couple of years so I'm not sure how chucking them into the Warriors team? Having said that should they put together some second XI consistency then they should get a game this season and I'd like to see that.

I think the reason that Wilson (and /or Angel) gets a game is he is an experienced campaigner who bowls to the field, and keeps the seam up. His bowling compliments someone like Worthington or thorp who will jag it around but without great pace.

IMO our best bowling line-up is:

Brad Williams
Michael Clark
Peter Worthington
Darren Wates
Brad Hogg

Wates' position is a toss up with Wilson, Thorp and maybe even Kade Harvey but Wates allround game gets him the nod. Now when you consider tow are injured and two are on Aust duties its not wonder we suck so badly. The depth isn't there.

I doubt Big Jo will get too many more games now that he can't be taken off every 2nd over for a rest like he could under the old 12th man rule.

As for our bowling, at full strength we've got

Opening Bowlers
----
Brad Williams
Michael Clark
Michael Thistle

1st Change
----
Peter Worthington
Callum Thorp
John Taylor
Darren Wates

Spinners
-----
Brad Hogg
Beau Casson

Part Timers
-----
Marcus North
Shaun Marsh

Most of them are fairly good, with some of our pacemen needing a bit more experience before they make a big impact.

I see what you mean about Thistle and James, they're just not penetrating - and this is second XI cricket.

I would like to see Howman get another run in the 2's after taking 3-36 and 2-55 against Tassie. Always takes plenty of poles in grade cricket too.

Our bowling line-up changes yet again for the Vic's game at the Junction road umm oval.

Big Jo is back, along with Wilson, Worthington, Taylor who gets his first bowl for WA, and Casson who will no doubt bowl plenty of overs. Marcus North will likely trundle some offie's down too.

4 FC games this season. 4 bowling line-ups.

Gives you some idea of where we're at... :(

Age is on his side. I think he has a rookie contract with the warriors at the moment so he could be a player of the future for them. Hard to say whether he'll make it or not. At this stage I doubt he'll get a FC game this season but the way we're going (ie down) that could change.
