as people may have read in the "ways to waste 2004" thread, me and friends had planned to write a dictionary of all the words we think are not spelt correctly, we wanna spell them how they sound... and i know someone posted the word in the other thread but i've already forgotten... *giggles*

lets get the ball rolling kids and waste 2004!

Would reply with correct pronunciation but the board doesn't take IPA (International Phonetic Alphabet) transcription characters

The word which was previously spelt "fish" is now spelt "ghoti."
gh as in tough, o as in women and ti as in station.
:) :) :)

"spelled".

The irony is so thick, you can cut it...

Maybe I'm not getting it, but I'm pretty sure that "spelled" is the American form of "spelt". In any case, since they're changing words to be spelt they way they're pronounced, there's very little irony, because "spelt" is how it's pronounced.

Of course, if I'm missing an in-joke, or even an out-joke, ignore this post. I'm just a nerd.

Eh, nerd. What's the difference between further and farther again?:)
