Watson VS Stanton

Which one of these guys do u reckon will be better in the future. There both young and i'm wondering who will be more vital for our success

Watson is more vital to our future IMO. He is a young player who is very good at clearances. In fact he is our only real young guy who is good at clearences. He will basically have to take the spot of both Pev and JJ when they are gone.

Stanton on the other hand is an outside player. That isnt a bad thing, every club needs them, but we also have Winderlich, Dyson, Houli, Dempsey, Lovett, etc.

So Watson is more vital to our future because he is a unique player in our club.

I didn't vote because I feel both of these boys are very important to our team.

jobe will be better, to be honest stanton doesnt have that much room for improvment (mostly because his a gun already), his disposal could still improve but his running wont, i feel that jobe is our greatest clearence player, he is still very poor with his kicking, and fitness still needs to improve, he will eventually be a scotty west for our club, he jsut needs to gain fitness and improve his kicking, which he will do over time

agree jobe has more potential to improve than stanton, because stanton is already a very good player and runs his guts out.

Jobe has the clearance winning ability. But i believe his fitness can improve more(or sheedy can give him more game time than currently getting).
He also has good size about him, and i wouldnt be surprised to see him push forward more in the future when resting, when he has a stronger frame.
like Buckley and Voss did in stages over there careers.
Kicking has improved from early in the year with his confidence.

Stanton`s disposal has improved out of sight, he has strung three excellent seasons together , all that was lacking was the kicking. Jobes kicking is deplorable, no doubting his ability in finding it it`s using it that creates a problem. I actually looked away when he had that shot in the 3rd qtr ,he struggles. Lucky blokes like Stant`s are running by so he can hand it off.
They are completely different players, but I`d take Stanton, he suits todays football.

Two woeful attempts in the first quarter, and don`t give me this "rotation" bullshit, he was dragged and rightly so.

There is absolutely no doubt in the world Stanton is and will be a much better player than Watson, the topic should not be argued, Watson is not in his class. Watson gets a lot of the ball but is slow and has bad disposal which used to be worse, Stanton gets a lot of the ball every week and runs all day plus he has good disposal. Stanton >>>>>>>>>>>>> Watson. End of story.

If anything sundays game only further suggested that Watson is more important to us than Stanton. Sure we didnt hit targets by foot well at all and that is a department stants would have helped in, but imagine the clearances if watson hadnt have played ! we get absoloutely smashed in the clearances more often than not so god forbid what we'd be like there without jobe

Stanton runs around, and gets 28 touches a week, but many of them are forgettable


Watch our matches - we always throw Watson into the middle when the chips are down. That tells me something.

Either that or the people that are voting are not Essendon supporters and hence dont have a clue who is more important to our team. Stants gets the media coverage, but I'll bet you Watson is picked before Stanton every week.

Some of Watson`s touches are unforgettable,as in head in your hands what the **** have you just done unforgettable, his disposal by foot is disgraceful, by hand, fantastic, when kicking ? Look away now. The one v richmond in the last quarter last year when Lucas was free is burnt on my brain, Lucas went off his head, and quite rightly too, how often does Lucas lose the plot ?

Im not talking interviews. Im talking bout commentators and newspaper journos making comments about how well he has been performing. Of course Watson will have more interviews, but how many of them are about him playing footy and not about being Tim's son.

I`ve read two or three on Jobe where Tim is not mentioned, what is mentioned though is the questionable disposal, last Sunday`s Herald Sun being the freshest. (and then came the first quarter v Port !)

I agree his disposal is questionable. But his job is to get the ball out of packs and feed it to the players who can use it well. People never notice these possesions. You do take notice of him though when he gets it from a mark/freekick and does something horrible. From 20 touches he might have 3 clangers. That isnt bad at all. Its just that you might only notice 8 or 10 of his possesions and of those, 3 are clangers. It makes him look bad when in reality he is one of our most important players.

Mate, I know how good he is in pack situations, not in doubt, I would still take Stanton every time, missed him sorely on Sunday.
