That eagle is disturbing, was I the only one who noticed the mammary glands trying to burst through fabric???

she needs another layer of flight feathers to hide that set!

But it would make it a bit fairer and at the same time promote both WA teams, instead of the looney kids that support essendon or collingwood. A few weeks back, Chris Connely was voicing his opinions on WA people who don't support WA teams, get em while they're young and impressionable.;)

No way......there's no way in hell my future kiddies will be supporting either WC or the Dockers!!! They WILL be Port supporters! ;)
What would seem like a better idea to me is instead of promoting both WA AFL teams....how about promoting the WAFL?? All you hear about is bloody Eagles & Dockers here......they don't need any more promoting, it's the WAFL clubs that need to be promoted......

Oh my god, what did they do to the Dollarmites ?

I remember them as creepy little crustacean like Aliens.

They seem to have funked them up.

Still, Kangaroo Creek Gang all the way.

Anyone else have the white plastic pencil case they gave you ?, smelt funny and came with a floppy plastic ruler ?

I think I kept it for a week or so, but there were issues in class because lots of kids had the same cases. Madness.

Ahh memories...

Being a hardcore bunch of year 4s, we used to to put our heads in those pencil cases and try and get loaded off the fumes. I love the smell of vinyl in the morning...

Funked? Close, one letter off though. I definitely remember them being little intergalactic octopussy kinda critters.

If we ARE going to be stereotyped as the corporate type of club, and we are regardless of whether or not this had been green-lighted, why not go the whole hog? Brainwash away, I say! I mean someone has to fund public schools, and it's not either of the current governments...

Troy: Now, turn to the next problem. If Andrew McDougall kicks 4 goals every game for a whole season, how much more money will West Coast be pumping back into WA Football? You, the redhead girl in the Claremont school.

Girl: Umm...more then Fremantle?

Troy: Partial credit!

:D

When I first read the article in The West and the few examples that were with it, (no I haven't seen the book itself yet), I have to admit I thought it was a bit tacky and transparent. BUT, having taught maths to kids ranging from age 3 to about 15, I think it's actually a good idea. My kids abilities were anything between remedial to highly extended, and I was forever using props and analogies to try and demonstrate ideas to them. What always seemed to break through their little skulls though, was when I was able to incorporate their favourite sporting team into the lesson. Make it real, and they'll tune in. My boss might've thought I'd lost the plot, but talking in terms footy quarters, basketball heights and soccer angles, and testing the kids on footy scoresworked a hell of a lot better than just 'memorise your times tables'.

Why not just have the AFL publish a version including all teams? Or at least the State Government put together a Fremantle themed book? Bit rough to have a go at the Eagles when no other team has made an effort at all in that regard isnt it? Besides, footy loyalty should be ingrained at birth dammit. By primary school they should al be die hard tragics like the rest of us, dyed in the wool type fanatics.

PS- Kangaroo Creek Gang all the way baby. :p

For a Club that prides itself on its professionalism both on and off the field I thought it was a blatant marketing exercise poorly disguised as a learning tool for primary school children. To have a Politician involved only tainted it further.
The money spent on the venture, apparently quite a bit according to Nisbett, would have been better utilised by providing equipment for the kids to improve their football skills.
I am sure their new full time staff member can be more gainfully employed than on projects such as this.

:D Beautiful.. we have to get Troy McClure on our PR team.

I like the concept the Eagles have introduced - only wish they had this when I was at primary school.

I would even like it if it was brought out by another AFL club or a different sporting code. It's hard to motivate young kids to do maths, so why not use a case study and apply the maths to that.

Wouldn't it be cool for the club to open up its own Primary & High School?
