Meanwhile, Wallace said that while it appeared Richmond was down and out on the field, it was actually progressing.
"We're heading in a direction and we haven't changed from the direction we want to head," he said.
"Sometimes you look like you're going backwards at 100 miles an hour when you're actually marching forwards.
"Those who are privy to what we are trying to achieve internally are confident that we are going forward.
"Those on the outside probably see us that we're going backwards."

Well that's a relief. i thought we were having a shocking year but if Terry says we are 'marching forwards' then we must be!

The simple fact is that Wallace's tenure at the club will be won or lost on how players such as Casserly, Collins, Peterson etc fair amongst the senior ranks.

Those who have seen a bit of Coburg all agree that these guys have shown no reason why they won't become an important part of the next Tiger movement.

I expect (hope) to see towards the end of this season and through the start of the next a transition of players as the younger guys take over from the Hydes, Tivendales and Tucks on the list, and by season end 2008 that they have cemented their place on the senior list.

Make no mistake their are signs of good days ahead if the club can keep the core of the younger playing group together, enthused and passionate about the RFC.

Sometimes when you're going forward ur actually going backward, and sometimes when ur going backward, ur actually moving forward.
Sometiems when u win u actually lose, and sometimes when u lose u actually win.
I see he said that it was the RFC that wanted a 5 year contract and not him?

haha great stuff terry

always reliable for a nice solid dose of bullshit every tuesday

So this downward spiral is what he was looking for

LMAO @ that ... What ? ... in an "Eddie the eagle" kind of way ?

I ask you this Terry ... confident we are going forward , or do they actually "BELIEVE" that we are going forward ?? ... there is a big difference . Bullshit statement anyway . Any admission otherwise would see you forced to resign

He keeps saying it so it must be true

"We are on the right track" ... well seeing the likes of Pattison, Foley, Thursfield & Edwards playing some good footy, and not seeing the likes of Hall or Knobel run around, is very pleasing to me.

For once the club is showing stability and not bowing to media pressure. I can't for the life of me ever remember us only having 1 win to this stage of the year (and we have had some poor years) without us imploding. Another positive.

Sacking the coach achieves nothing, it would take us back another 3 years. New coach comes in, they put their stamp on things, and before too long they're out the door. I hope Wallace stays for 10 years, even if we don't win a flag. I'm sick of coaches being held accountable for lacklustre efforts by our players.

As I see it, our single biggest issue is that our players do not work hard enough when they DON"T have the ball (Richo excluded), no matter whether that be us attacking or defending. The sooner they weedle those players out, the better.

I supported Terry until a month ago. If we are on the right path why haven't we won a few more games? I think if I was Terry I would start getting worried. We need to win to justify having you as our coach or you could end up as a coach being sacked??

Nail on the head I Rock. We won't be a decent side again until the kids we've drafted over the last few years fill the 22 spots each and every game. Once they're the best players in the side, we'll be OK.

good stuff terry
still got faith in this bloke
let the ferals get off the bandwagon who cares

we have tried sacking coaches so many times now its not funny. it doesnt work. stick with him and let him finish his plan. its the best chance we have.

He's not Tel, he's Arfur and boy has he got a deal..........Now lets all nip down to the Winchester for a Vera....

Just curiously, there seems to be some gossip that should Sheedy get sacked at Essendon, Richmond are prepared to pay out Wallace and make a play to entice one of their favourite sons. Just wanted to know if any Richmond supporters would be open to this and encourage it, should Sheeds becomes available? Would Richmond fans be excited to finally restore and bring Sheeds 'home'?

LMAO...oh man...you have lit the fuse with this one...watch how this thread balloons into the 100s of posts now. ;)

Just thought I would share the video of that Tuesday with Terry presser:
http://publish.vx.roo.com/heraldsun...n+Sport&clipid=1396_TW&bitrate=300&format=wmp

Interesting after he finishes about the sacking of coaches Simmo talks about tanking and how the players are going out every week trying to win. Terry then speaks about how because we are losing games week after week many of the players have gone back into their shells and are not trying to do things they were in the past.

Although I see it as nothing more than spin it does have some merit though because we are losing and players that were fairly attack minded in the 06 season like JB, Raines and a few others are too worried about making mistakes, that they actually increase their chances of making bigger ones than normal because they put themselves under more pressure by not playing their normal game.

If Terry Wallace told the truth at a press conference eg. We are in a race to the bottom in order to get Kruezer. That our young KP's are not presenting hard enough to warrant on-going selection. That there is little or no leadership amongst older players, many who should not be on the list. That the mid-fielders will need another 2 years to fully develop. That the fickleness of supporters and board members hasn't helped long-term planning in the past. etc etc. There would be a massive outcry by all and sundry for his head with the difference being that this time it would roll.

I don't like the blokes spin but what else do you expect him to do. If it is selfless spin in order to protect RFC then good on him.

I believe his latest recruiting may yet turn out to be inspired. He has been good for marketing and supporting his players and the club. He also would be snapped up if he was available on the open coaches market at the moment.

if they dont make the finals in the next year he is a dead man walking. tigers wont carry him like pagan was at carlton, he's had enough time and should be axed mid-season if they have a string of losses. if laidley can do it within a season at the roos then he should be able to do it.

That rumor has been gaining momentum now for over 6 weeks and even Wallace said yesterday that Richmonds prior history with coaches dosnt gaurantee him seeing out his contract (im paraphrasing that)

Essendon board has meet and the rumor seems his time has passed.

There are to many coaches ready for the upcomming historic "Great Coaching Swap of 2008"

And "If" there are some influential people behind the sences at Punt Road like we are led to beleives true, then those who would like the Sheedy brand of footy returning "Home" know this is the final chance they will ever get.

If Wallace dosnt win another game and ends up with 1 win, 1 draw then that senario could me more a reality than rumor.

I have never cared for Wallace but im not after his blood as we have some good kids on the way. BUT boy would i love Sheeds back at the club as our senior coach:thumbsu:

"We are on the right path..."???????? Ever heard of the Talking Heads song "We're on the road to nowhere"?????

Good to see Terry Wallet under the pump. There deserves to be more solarium cooked sweat coming from his forehead.

Re-Signed your coach yet?? He might end up at Fremantle, Carlton or Melbourne. Can you afford to keep him??
