6 is more appropriate. 12 team competition , 8 rewards mediocrity.

Then after that has happened every teams name is placed in a hat and one teams name is pulled out, they are the seasons winner.

6-team finals series.

16-round seasons, every team plays every other team once + the other 5 teams in their half of the ladder.

Or, when there's expansion, 8-team finals and 13-round seasons, everyone plays each other once because that's enough.

I'm not fussed about how many teams play finals, but I would prefer to meet each team only once per season. Lots of posters become disinterested towards the end of the season, partly because it's too long, and also because of the tedious double match-ups.

That said, making the seasons shorter would mean longer off-seasons... and we already get crazy enough in that time as it is. Maybe we need something to fill the gap... can't think Of anything Original now, but if I do I'll State it.

So the people who selected 12 rounds want to play everyone once and one team twice, or are they just dumb?

Salary cap is even stupider you want to tell people in what is supposed to be a fun league that they can't play where they want because of some arbitrary salary cap.
