Still no news on whether he makes the trip?

The potential Perth trip really muddies the water.

I think if we play WCE in Perth it will probably be on the Saturday night (the 3rd of October, a complete guess). Means the team would probably have to fly out on Thursday 24/09 to do the mandatory 7 day quarantine.

Means even if Steele left Melbourne today he'd only be 1 week into the QLD quarantine 🤷‍♂️

Unfortunately he can't wait until after the Port game either, or it'll be too late to get the 2 week QLD quarantine in.

Reckon he’ll miss the EF which means we really need to finish 6th or 7th. Not sure whether WA Border Control would allow him in if he had not cleared quarantine in QLD.

Where is this 7 day quarantine requirement for WA coming from? Has the AFL announced they’ve got an exemption from the mandatory 14 days from the WA government? As far as I’m aware it’s 14 days and that’s why the only final that could possibly be played over there is a first round finals match, due to the ability to use the bye week between the last home and away round and week 1 in order to comply with the 14 days. That would mean if we have to play in Perth then we’d have to leave next Tuesday and the elimination final couldn’t be played any earlier than Tuesday 6th October.

- West Coast Eagles finishing 5th or 6th will play Week One finals in Western Australia. They, along with their opponent will be required to quarantine for a minimum of seven days in Western Australia leading into the match. Based on a 7-day quarantine period, a final is achievable in Week One given the bye weekend, but not in subsequent weeks. Under the quarantine requirement, both teams will only be allowed to leave their accommodation for training sessions and the match.

So I thought I read somewhere a while back that if Sidey is going to be available for finals, then 16 September was the latest that he could leave Melbourne to get back into the hub.

If that's so, then I guess he's missed that boat and we can assume that he'll be staying at home to look after the new bub?

That's if our final is on the Thursday night.

I'm guessing our game will be on Saturday night which will give us up until Friday to have him leave.

They originally said Wednesday to be back up in the Gold Coast, hopefully they are working with us to give extra time. We really need some fresh talent for the first final! Although if we play a late first final then we are at a disadvantage in the second round...coming off a shorter break potentially.

Sidey get back up there stat!

You don't think we'd get put on Thursday for that exact reason? Kinda tin foil hat, I know, but not impossible.

I think we'd get put on Saturday night because we finish the H&A season last, but also it gives us the shortest break going into the Semi which is probably fair enough.

Having a bye a couple of weeks ago and a bye before finals, I don't think a 6v7 day break will be a concern.
