Well played Bombers, you had 3 quarters of good footy to our two, and weren't exactly sweating blood with that win.

I thought we had an advantage in the ruck for a while, and McGough gave things a shake too, but the quality long kicking from Essendon (especially out of defence) punished even when we did get some centre breaks.

Lloyd Lucas and Rioli were excellent, especially roly-poly. Don't ever put him on a diet, he's exactly right now.

Good to see Hird take the medal, a fine performance. I wasn't happy with the booing, although I must admit to a little barracking ("you sure got your $20,000 worth Jimmy" etc).

The umps were pretty poor, but it cut both ways. I thought they were inconsistant on calls for tripping, in-the-back etc, but the two stinkers were Rioli's 30 metre run without a bounce and the mark not paid in Essendon's goalsquare (I think it was Lucas).

Definitley the better side won, I hope we can improve to make the next one a contest.

Fair call - the umpires I don;t think had a huge influence over the game, but at the same time are far too inconsistent.

Gotta say didn't expect such a fight from the pies for so long. Gotta give credit to em for sticking it out and making it a contest until 3/4 time. Still always felt like it was a matter of time before we broke Collingwoods back and spirit, just didn't think it would take as long as it did.

I'm guessing it's a referral to the third quarter?

First clearly won by Essendon, second by Collingwood, and last by Essendon - third quarter was fairly even wasn't it? (Although just won by Collingwood.)

Cyclops, you've added something to my opinion of Pies fans I never thought I'd ever see.....a touch of class. Stop it.

I need to hate something in life and you guys have to stay up there right next to Carlton as far as I'm concerned.

Cheers

Hird was crap, Lloyd is a dud, Rioli is too thin, Lucas is over-rated, Sheedy doesn't have a clue your fans are all pregnant teenage Bogannas and we will whip you next time. ;)

Now only one of those statements is true, I'll let you choose which...

Good game by the Bombers, Hird was great, was hoping Collingwood would get away with a win, but atleast we wasn't flogged as much as I thought we were.

So, well done Hird, and the rest of the for providing another good Anzac Day match.

Rioli is too thin

It has to be this one, on the basis that if he were carrying more padding, the bump he copped wouldn't have hurt at all.

Must say the thing that has impressed me over the duration of these Anzac Day games has been the spirit in which they have been played.
Always hard fought but with no spite and generally of a high standard.

This year the quality wasn't that high apart from Hird, but the sportsmanship was.

And even the new friend of everyone,Cyclops,is showing it.

Hope it keeps up.
