Future midfield is looking good. Still a few more years at least out of Swanny and Davis, who are both A graders now. Then we've got the young brigade. Pendles, already a proven star, Thomas, who should end up in the midfield, Beams, Wellingham, Sidebottom and McCarthy. The last 4 are still not proven but definetely promising. I'm liking it.

Why is it a situation of one or the other?

I was very impressed with Wellingham. His balance , movement and attack on the ball was very good. I'm still a bit wary about his consistency due to the easy sort of game it was , and he has some terrible moments at VFL level.

Corrie will be a handy frontrunner , but don't hold great hope for him as a long term player at the club.

I was saying it a year ago, and I still think Wellingham is overall the most naturally talented young midifelder we have, even more talented than Pendlebury when you look at all attributes.

The ONLY weakness he has is consistent application through a full match. Otherwise he is a combination of Daniel Kerr and Pendlebury as a player.
