Swine Flu Suspected in SA

HEALTH specialists have quarantined 12 people in South Australia, fearing they have been exposed to the swine flu virus causing increasing alarm around the world.

SA Health chief medical officer Professor Paddy Phillips said preliminary tests had already cleared two of the 14 people originally identified as being at risk of having the flu.

The other dozen people - ranging in age from 11 to 62 - are being quarantined in their own homes until tests can determine whether they have the virus.

Professor Phillips said he expected more people to exhibit symptoms consistent with swine flu but urged South Australians not to be alarmed.

Hmmm .. I'd say they're quarantining anyone with flu like symtoms at this stage..

I wouldnt say there is too much to worry about, SARS was a bigger risk thankfully they managed to contain it. SARS IMO was almost a disaster straight out of a movie, a suspected man made disease that was accidentally leaked out to the public.

Apparently 8% of air flight travellers will come down with flu like symptoms.
Thats before bird or swine flu even evolved.
My daughter flys out to Ireland this Sunday so Im a bit nervous.

150 people killed from it world wide? Hardly worthy of the hysteria it has created in the media, as someone else mentioned there will be more people killed this winter alone from normal flu.

The only scary thing with this is the fact it is killing the young and healthy.
