Press Release: New coach takes the reigns

The west coast eagles would like to announce Drew23 as coach of the club. CEO Trevor Nisbett had the following to say when contacted.
"We have had a great run for several years, taking 3 premierships. However we have reach an awkward stage where the premiership players are heading into their twilight years. Our legendary coach Mastero has resigned, we would like to wish him the best and thank him for his services. We welcome coach Drew and look forward to him bringing his wealth of football experience and strong philosophies. We will spend time with coach drew over the coming week to decide what we need for next year and where our next premiership window will be."

With the eagles having an ageing list, it is expected coach drew will look strongly at the trade and draft period. When contacted coach Drew had this to say.
"I am honoured to coach such a prestidigous club. I know there are great expectations of the club and myself. I can inform you all that we will train hard and do our best to stay in the top half of the ladder. However, we will need to rebuild and this may take a few years. Some of our club greats may look for greener pastures in an attempt to gain premiership glory once again. We will not attempt to keep them if this is the case. We will receive adequate compensation for them if they do elect to leave. We will use the players or picks that we gain to fast track the rebuilding process."

We here at express news look forward to west coasts activity in the trading arena and how they will perform on the big stage next year.

In Drew23's first move as coach he has chosen to delist players he does not feel will improve or assist in the quest for West Coast's next premiership.

We thank the following players for their contributions to the club over the life of their playing time with us.
Leigh Brown
Joe Anderson - 1 year remaining on his contract
John Meesen
David Wojcinski

Trade week: West coast activity so far

With a new coach leading the troops into battle in 2013, coach Drew thought it would be good to bring in some fresh faces. In the 2 days of trade week so far West coast have brought in a whopping 10 new players.

Coach Drew had the following to say “I will not tread lightly as I stamp my footprint at this football club. We have had many great servants over the past few years and even throughout our history. However, the list needed a real shakeup many players are reaching the end of their career or are not performing to the level that we expect. This will not be tolerated as we push to taste the ultimate glory once again. We still require a couple of key posts filled, which will be our main target along with early picks for the remainder of the trade period. We thank all those who have left the club for their services and wish them the best for the future.”

Gaining players of the calibre of Andrew Swallow, Hamish Hartlett and Grant Birchall will assist in developing our list. We have also taken a punt that a couple of tall forwards in Mckernan and Stanley will take the next step and fill the void at full forward.

Dempsey, wood and Lucas we hope will be serviceable players although have more risk factor to how they will develop.
