West Coast Victorious in Classic Grand Final

The West Coast Eagles are on top of the world after taking out the 2009 Premiership in a thrilling Grand Final against Andrew Embley's Adelaide where there were only 47 points in deciding the winner.

"It's a dream come true" said an elated Eagles coach Maestro.

"I took over this list not too long ago and I didn't like the look of it, new blood was needed and we worked feverishly in the offseason to bring in the right players. I think we did that and I'm just very proud to be coach of a wonderful group of guys."

Adelaide were front-runners for the most part of the season but fell agonisingly short at the last hurdle.

"Yeah look, Adelaide were the best side all season no doubt. I've got huge respect for that team. Sometimes things just don't go your way, but we're sure they will be back next season challenging for the title once more. We were lucky that some key players returned in the latter part of the season and that got us over the line in the end." said Maestro, graciously.

Bryce Gibbs was awarded the Norm Smith medal for a best on ground performance.

"Bryce was fantastic, he stood up when it counted the most and he is still so young. I thought our good players all played well, Dom Cassisi, Boomer Harvery lead by example, Chance Bateman ran all day. It was terrific to see."

West Coast and Adelaide will now both look to the transfer market in a bid to go back to back in West Coast's case and one step further in Adelaide's.
