If Judd wants to stay, all bets are off anyway. If Judd wants to go, Cooney's as good as it would get.


From WB POV:

With Grant coming back and Gehrig, the Bulldogs will have the big body up each end they need. Will still have picks 3 & 7 which might be good enough to get them Tenace and Chaplin. Harrison and Garlick would be sacrificed to pay for Gehrig.


From ST. Kilda's POV :

You get Judd for Gehrig and a downgraded pick.
Brooks in the ruck, Riewoldt, Koszitschke and Hamill up forward, Penny, Hudgeton and Maguire in defence. Judd, Hayes, Ball, Clarke, Goddard..... wow.
The kids need more games, but when they do, look out.
Pick 18 might still get you Watts.

effectively you are suggesting we give up Cooney to get Gehrig.

Never.

Gehrig isn't really all that good Jim. Besides thats a short term fix. Gehrig will be washed up in 2-3 seasons.

How about we keep picks 1 and 3 and get Cooney and Watts?

From a St Kilda point of view, we lose a key position player who can play either forward or back and a first round pick (our chance of picking up either Watts or Clarke).

But we pick up the gun midfielder of the decade (probably)

The addition of Judd to our midfield would make us very hard to match up on there.

We would have to do some trading to try and regain a low pick worthy of gaining the draftees we were aiming for, but it could be done.

Our KPP ranks would be a little thin and youthful, but we could cope.

The temptation is high but we need to look after our ruck stocks too and keep it all under the salary cap.

Definitely worth a look.
