What is an NNTP account?

Hi, I was wondering whether anyone knows what an NNTP account is?

I like to look at Usenet newsgroups from time to time and up until now I have used Google Groups where you can look at newsgroups and post though the only problem is that when you post it takes up to 9 hours until your post reaches the newsgroups so you always end up being behind the discussion.

I have an Outlook Express email account and was going to create a newsgroup account using that but it asks what my NNTP account is, the newsgroup account which my ISP provided me but I don't know what it is. My ISP is Optus@Home if that helps.

yes.. its a newsgroup account...
instead of using deja-news, google to read newsgroups, u can do it thru outlook...
advantage is that its faster, and easier to read reply etc..

u can usually check the site for the NNTP server address..
but i think optus uses: news.optusnet.com.au

its usually something generic like that... give it a go ~

If you're going to cruise the newsgroups, ditch outlook express (puke) and gave a look at Forte's free agent, found at www.forteinc.com

It ****s all over Express. But then that's not hard
