I once had a little soft spot for the Tigers. They were like that little Red Caboose that Couldn't, and also my wife is a Richmond girl (yes I've got priests, rabbis to try to excorcise the demon out of her! to no avail).

But lately it's getting hilarious to hear their supporters on BigFooty bag us to such an extreme, I really am at that stage that I don't care how many wins we get this year, as long as we absolutely smash Richmond round 1 and bury them.

The last 6 years two teams have gotten 5 of the wooden spoons... Us and Richmond.... with the most recent winner them. Since 2001 both our teams have done SFA but looking further we've only done SFA for the last 6 years for them it's been the last 27.

Please someone explain to me why they're like that? Does lack of premierships/finals over the last generation rot the brain?

They won a spoon when we were perhaps tanking.
Their suntanned coach is happy to take the money and run
They think Tambling is the next big thing
They are bitter as they have nothing good on the horizon
Like my 2 year old when she is getting herr own way she lashes out at the nearest and easiest target. You just end up looking like a pathetic tantrum throwing baby who needs a big spank after a nappy change!
That is the Tigers - in need a nappy change and a spanking after another tantrum
Roll on Round 1

How brutal do you wanna be?

So many threads have been started on this such topic! We all know how fickle the Richmond supporters can be! And their recent history of displaying this.

They are pissed over their 2007, and even more pissed that they didn't get the top pick for their troubles. We did, so that anger is pointed at us. Plus KB and Miller had the club believing that they were front runners to get Judd but were shafted out of it by us, even though Judd didn't name Richmond! Thats miller rallying his troops, nothing more, they need a rival.

Thing is "We are Carlton, f**k the rest"! Let them spend their time focused on beating us, thats terry's whole 5 year plan anyway!! we have another 14 clubs to worry bout beating this year!

This is the first time i have gone anywhere near the Carlton board and I only have done so this time because i saw this post on the main page of Bigfooty.com. I can't really comment on what Richmond supporters are like in relation to big footy forum because i haven't seen any of their comments on the Carlton board. What i can say is that some Carlton supporters regularly get on the Richmond board and insult players, members and the footy club. I can only guess that some richmond supporters do the same on the Carlton board. My guess is also that some Richmond and Carlton supporters are similar (as bad as each other).

I have read some comments from Richmond supporters pumping up Tambling. I don't think that they truely believe he is that great at the moment (their thoughts are based on potential) but they are merely defending the guy who has copped a lot of undue/unfair criticism from opposition supporters inparticular Hawthorn supporters.

As far as Richmond being the worst team in 25-27years etc, I can't really remember much that happened more than 7 years ago (I was 26 then) on the footy field other than the odd highlight. So really what happended more than say 7-10 years ago maybe irrelevant to the majority of Richmond supporters. They simply cant remember. No one really care's that Sydney and Adelaide were really good a few years back, they only notice whats happening now, like how good Hawthorn were last year. All of the Hawks supporters have forgotten how ordinary they were for the few years prior.

This post pin-points the 2 main reasons why Tigers supporters are having ever-escalating hissy fits.

1. 28 years of consecutive failure, and still sitting solid bottom

2. The Tambling draft "clanger of the decade". A symbol of Miller's list management incompetence that has repeatedly brought this Club to its knees.

The Richmond football club is a complete disaster, and their supporters know it. :)

Your point is well made:thumbsu:

I think its the few from both teams that share the animosity.

But, alot of this is also stems from people like Miller saying its their aim to derail Carlton. Its people like KB drumming up support against Pratt. Its about KB's anti Carlton movement on sen which began when he first heard they'd get the spoon but not the no.1 pick.

We love to give it back when Miller says the club has plenty of Wayne Schwass's and even a few Glen Archers, which you clearly do not.
We just don't take lightly to opposition supporters starting derogatory threads on our boards, especially when we have won 5 flags since their last, and from 2000-07(our darkest period ever) we have played in three more finals matches!

JJ, you may as well be asking:

'Why is this fire getting out of control? All I'm doing is pouring petrol on it...I don't understand.'

Think about it.

You're a muppet!

I'm on my own team board amongst my fellow supporters asking a question from them, trying to gather their insight.

If I wanted a Richmond point of view I'd either ask my wife (who wont answer for when I mention anything Richmond she falls down into the faetal position and starts rambling about god knows what), or I'd put a post on your board which would be foolish.

The Fiora/Pavlich clanger is much more significant in my mind. However, the point is well made. Two horendous decisions at the draft table by Richmond in recent times have really made them the No.1 laughing stock of the AFL.

Oh, and signing Wallace and Simmonds to 5 year deals as well. Another sign of mis-management at Punt Rd.

I think we'll be penciling Morton and McMahan into the Miller Draft Clanger Diary shortly. Still can't believe Miller traded away a low second round draft pick for a Bulldogs B-grader. There was some real quality at that level, something the Tiges badly needed. Just a ridiculous decision. Also using a 3rd round pick on Morton was also a waste. The Weagles didn't want the guy on their list because of lack of commitment and lack of leg speed. :)

Agreed. How the hell Richmond throught they needed another outside runner when they've got Raines, Newman and J.Bowden accross their backline is beyond me. And taking Mitch Morton is another interesting one. Showed nothing at West Coast, and is likely to do the same at Punt Rd.

It really is amatuer hour 24/7 at Punt Rd. :thumbsu:

Theyre just reacting the same way the tigers fan do, when we say
Buddy >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Tambling.

You think about it!

And they are right miller and the wallet did a great job with there recruiting CV'S. They have done the blues and hawks a favour as we wont be seeing your lot at the top for anther 5 to 8 years :p

not sure why richmond supporters are so anti carlton. maybe there jelous that we r on the rise and they got nothing on thier list that suggests there gonna improve this decade or the next. i had a run in with richmond supporters at a game acouple years ago. my son got up and called richmond gay he didnt know any better so anyways the guy in front stood up and turned around and said to my 4 year old what did u say you carlton maggot. i was like hmmm no way and retaliated and got escorted from the ground by police. but i dont think that richmond supporter will open his mouth to a 4 year old kid again. are all richmond supporters like this???

It's one of the great mysteries of this board for me. I'd expect to cop shit from Collingwood supporters, Essendon and even Hawthorn to an extent (although I would've expected more from the other two), but not Richmond. They should have the least reason to carry on the way they do considering how pathetic they were all year.

Reason. Anger because they..

1. Missed Kruezer
2. Missed Judd
3. Collected the spoon

:)

A sensible post on the Carlton board by a Richmond supporter?

I like it:thumbsu:.

The Richmond football club is a complete disaster, and their supporters know it. :)

It was widely stated by people in the know (football recruiters etc) that the 3 best players available (prior to draft) in the 2004 AFL National draft were: Deledio, Griffen & Tambling. Roughead was arguably the next best. Unknown to most, Hawthorn had decided to bolster their KPP, hence drafting Roughead instead of Tambling. Richmond pounced on Tambling (supprised that he was available) as he was touted as an outstanding prospect. End of story. Nothing to do with Franklin.

Hawthorn chose Roughead before Franklin. Why? Because like Tambling he was a better underaged/junior player.

Similar draft choice to the tambling decision. Fiora was highly rated by football recruiters and the like (a top 3 prospect). Richmond needed a skillfull & quick midfielder (which Fiora was as a junior). Pavlich was not as highly rated as Fiora.

Parrot, i thought you only made statements like this one (no evidence or support to back your comments up other than what your thinking at the time of writing) on the Richmond board. Like Brisbane & Hadley, West coast gave Morton up for pick 35 not because they didn't want him, but because they stood to get nothing in return if Richmond drafted Morton in the pre-season draft - Morton told WC he wanted out to Richmond.

Garbage. Prior to that draft, Josh Fraser, Paul Haselby and Matthew Pavlich were the big 3. I will conceed that my memory almost 10 years ago aint that good, however, I don't ever think Fiora was rated higher than Pavlich, except of course at the Richmond Football Club.
