What is the best music downloading program?

May not be for the newbie, but once you find a hub (server) for what you want to download, it's the best program. I've never not found a song using it.

Well I've only ever used a couple, and don't use any now, but soulseek is my choice.

Soulseek is underrated.

Kazaa is still useful for some things - but only if you can still get a copy of KazaaLite and avoid the one they've got now that's spywared right up the ass.

I voted other because ATM I'm using Winmx, which is good, I suppose as i haven't used the other programs.
Ares - Never heard of it.
Kazaa - U gotta pay money so that's a no no for me.
K-Lite++ - Never heard of it.
Audio Galaxy - Never heard of it
Limewire - Heard the name somewhere...
Napster - Was very good!
Morpheous - Downloads good music BUT it's a shocker for the computer. Do not get it.

So...yeah I only get programs which are for free and yeh...it seems to be good.
What's the point of paying money for a music downloading program? Might as well buy the album!!

Audio Galaxy - Never heard of it

Audigalaxy was the best in terms of what I was after at the time; I was digging up tracks I could never find on Napster et al then or in Soulseek and it's ilk now. Sadly gone the way of many of the old types.

K-Lite - Was great, but for some reason lately (last 2 months) I hardly get ANY sources...

Ares - my preferred choice now - SO fast it's not funny, but bloody hell it slows your computer down when you downloading.


So if you're jsut going to leave your PC on all day - Ares is the way to go.

If you've got stuff to do on the PC, don't start up Ares at all - it'll kill you.

When you install the program and serach for your files make sure you download the files that are in black highliting. The files that are in grey highlighting means you have to wait in line

Folks in the States tell me that Bit Torrent is prime territory to get copyright infringement lawsuit notices on your doorstep. I wonder how much they care if it's outside of the US?

I've heard similar stories, but I think they can't do much apart from give your ISP a warning (about what "could" happen) - which will be passed to you.

To combat this: just don't share easy "target" files, such as blockbuster movies, mainstream music etc. Unless it's a hard to find movie, I usually don't share that particular file after it's completed. That's who they are looking for, the people that share copyrighted material.

I've only used Bit Torrent for a month, Supranova is always down. It's an ok program, but it seems like the number of people that use it are dwindling.

I also use an old version of Overnet Lite. It always does the job for me.

Soulseek is still the king for mp3's though!!

I use WinMX here. K - Lite has to many dodgy files now. No troubles with WinMX except when trying to find Aussie music, which brings me to my question. Are there any music download programs that are more "Aussie music orientated"? I'm liking a lot of the new rock that some of the Aussies are bringing out now. But because a lot of it doesn't get out of Australia for some time, or at all, It's a pain in the ass to get it. So does anyone know any programs that could assist me?

half these are irrelevant...... Napster R.I.P , noone wants to pay to download mp3s and its USA people only.... Audiogalaxy R.I.P excellent while it lasted....Soulseek soon to be R.I.P : server running at 300% capacity , jokers coming over from kazaa and other commercial networks bringing britney etc.... i imagine we will see RIAA stamp it's authority soon....what used to be the best place for rare hip hop and electronic has now become too big to ignore for RIAA
