whos ur favourite player to watch?
who do you think is the best at poker in the world?
who would you like to play a game against?
what would be you ultimate final table?- 9 players

Layne Flack
Phil Ivey
Phil Hellmuth
Hellmuth, Flack, Ivey, Harman, Raymer, Gordon, Hansen, Ferguson, Scotty Nguyen,

Ok everyone says Phil Ivey is the best player in the world..

What has he won? When does he finish in the top 2 or 3?
I know he's a good player, but I just don't think he's the best player in the world.....

Anyway, technically its Jo Hachem, but I didnt say I agree with that.

Hellmuth ... you either love him or hate him.

who do you think is the best at poker in the world?
Phil Ivey is easily one of the best in the world. Constantly makes final tables in major tournments and has the best table face/temperament out of any of the pros.

who would you like to play a game against?
Any fish out there ... definitely none of the pros

what would be you ultimate final table?- 9 players
Mike Matusow
Phil Hellmuth
Antonio Esfandiari
Carlos Mortensen
Johnny Chan
Phil Ivey
Layne Flack
Gus Hansen
Jean Robert Bellande

That would be a pretty aggressive final table but would be very entertaining to watch ... for the trash talk if nothing else

I'm the best in the world :p

You can't answer that because the best players have never been on a final table together...

I would like to see on a final table the following:

Phil Hellmuth
Phil Ivey
Gus Hansen
Mike Matusow
Daniel Negraneau
Brunson

Can't think of others...

Suprised noone has mentioned TJ Cloutier yet.
Best player in the world depends on how you judge 'best', Ivey is very good but the best NL Holdem Tournament player comes from Cloutier, Daniel Negraneau, Hansen and Flack IMO. Ivey is a very good and successful stud player, and the most consistent player across the variety of games. Negraneua is a step below Cloutier, Hansen and Flack who I can't seperate as the best player in the world.
The final table I would like to see would be:
Gus Hansen
TJ Cloutier
Phil Helmuth
Phil Ivey
Howard Lederer
Erik Seidel
Daniel Negraneua
Layne Flack
Doyle Brunson
Good combination of tight and loose, and all top class players.

I'd like two see to tables of 9 playing :

On table 1 I'll go with:

Hansen
Hellmuth
Negraneau
Matusow
Raymar
Flack
Corkins
Esfandiari
Ivey

Plenty of fireworks there.

On the second table

Lederer
Lingdrem
Williams
Ulliot
Hachem
Ferguson
Seidel
Arieh
Moneymaker

More conservative but still has a couple of aggressive guys.

It would be interesting to see who would make the final table.

Ok everyone says Phil Ivey is the best player in the world..

I know he's a good player, but I just don't think he's the best player in the world.....

I've heard this argument a number of times, and frankly, it is a naive argument. The thing that sets the good players aside from the bad players in poker is how many times a player can consistantly finish in the money and make final tables. Now, you've proabably watched Phil a number of times on the WPT and thought to yourself, "this guy never wins, he can't be that good." The sheer fact he has made as many WPT final tables as he has is proof that he is the real deal.

You forget that when watching the WPT, those six guys have plowed through 500+ players over two-three days to get there. Even to make a final table is an achievement.

And to question what he has won is wrong. Phil has won FIVE World Series of Poker bracelets, and won three in one year (2002), tying Phil Hellmuth and Ted Forrest for most bracelets won in a year. Of course, he is only 29, and has five bracelets (the record being nine for Hellmuth, Chan and Brunson).

Ivey also made the top twenty in this year's Main Event, and came 10th in 2003, and probably would have won had it not been for bad luck. Of course, it takes a lot of good luck to win events, but it takes a very good player to consistantly do well (that's why Hellmuth is regarded as the best, because he has finished in the money more times than anyone else).

Phil also won the $1 Million prize at the recent Monte Carlo Millions event that won't be shown here in Aus.

Also, generally how good a player is is not judged by how well he does in tournaments, but rather in cash games. Every pro will tell you that you need a hell of a lot of luck in No Limit tournaments to win. I think most - if not every pro - would tell you that Phil Ivey is the best Hold'em player in the world today. Most pros will not even consider to play him heads up.

To quote John DAgostino on Full Tilt Poker recently: "I want to play at 1000-2000k, but not if Phil is coming."
