What are the odds that Melbourne won't win a game this year - seriously

I can't see Melbourne troubling any team this year - the average loss, including pre-season games, is about 15 goals - its difficult not to watch the current team play without laughing out loud

On the positive side - Wheatley is underated and Bell will be an outstanding midfielder in time

Bruce has done ok on Johnson. The only positive from today is Morton. This is the worst 2 weeks I can remember in 20 years. Trying to find a positive but struggling. Garland, Weetra, Bode are out of their league. rivers, whelan, bate frawley newton should all play next week. How far the cats next week. Seriously at the moment we are looking at 20 goals plus. This is just horrible. I wish I could be positive but I cant. We are terrible.

Yep I agree re Morton. You couldn't ask too much more for a young new bloke. Garland and Weetra have been absolutely terrible today - they need to go back to Sandy - particularly Weetra.

Its more than just the lack of talent though - there is clearly no understanding as to what the game plan is (unless the game plan is to get possession of the ball, wonder what you are supposed to do with it and then just kick or handpass the ball to the nearest player (even if they are the opposition). Bailey has alot to answer for because half the people on this Board could have done a better job than him to date and all of them could have done just as good a job!

If I turned up to work each day and put in a performance akin to this I'd be out the door pretty quick smart. Bailey needs to show us why he was preferred over Sheeds and the like - so far I have seen absolutely nothing that suggests he has a game plan at all let alone a reasonable one.

I hope things improve but I am not holding my breath

i am definently worried now getting thrashed by the dogs isnt good i think at this point i would like 2 see kids gettin played get rid of all the old hacks

I wonder what their odds will be to beat geelong at skilled..could be a new record?

I really feel for Dees supporters at the moment, we have been and are going through a very similar thing, it sucks, there will be light at the end of this very long tunnel. Youth MUST be the way to go from this point onwards for the Melbourne footy club.

Geelong will be the shortest priced favourites ever possibly. Melbourne could be paying 8 bucks plus i think. What a sad day that will be. We are the laughing stock of the AFL at the moment and it hurts like buggery

Let's not be too silly. In most years, even the worst teams win 4-5 games. You would want to be respectable next week, and challenge North and Carlton in the weeks afterwards. Then there's Freo in Round 7 which could be a gimme.

I am being serious mate - the last 6 or so games we have lost by an average of 15 goals - if we actually win a game this year I will be wrapped but very surprised

we will win a game....eventually. I am sure we can only improve.

But it hurts so much to see a team so unwilling or unable to challenge decent AFL teams - and I can't see the Dogs being top four material this year. We don't run hard, our skills are awful and tackles don't stick.

We have to go the youth option now - so many of our so called senior players aren't skillful/hard enough to be considered stars. I'm talking about Bruce, Green, Miller, White (although he was OK today), Wheatley, Robbo (tries hard, but just cant influence games anymore), Neita (as with Robbo, great leader but would he get a game if he wasn't skipper?), the list goes on.

As for a couple of kids today, Garland (when he stood still and was spoiled TWICE in one minute was one of the most embarassing efforts i've ever seen) and Bode don't look up to AFL standard but I'd rather kids make mistake than older players.

THe rest of the year must centre on getting the best out of ALL of our kids...we recruited Meesen, for gods sake lets see what he's like, and bring in as much youth as we can. Surely Frawley is a must for next week (which I'm already shi!!ing myself about).

This first two weeks of the season have been the worst of my life as a Dees supporter.

i agree with all u said

It's prob not much consolation but the Eags are due for a sh##t year we are about to lose by a 100 against adelaide. So everyone hurts some time. We won a Premiership in 2006 and now we are going to be rebuilding that's life.

Firstly MisterD:

It is not Bailey's responsibility once the players are on the field. He is not responsible for poor player decisions....I thought the players came out and played to his plan very well (certainly compared to last week) in the first quarter.....if you recall you we were only down by 1 pt.
We played ok in the 2nd half but made a few critical mistakes that allowed the bullies to be up by 4 goals at Htime.....No different here to under Daniher.
To state that Bailey has something to prove to us all as compared to Sheedy is ridiculous. Your argument is illogical. How can we compare Bailey to Sheedy when Sheedy is not even coaching. As I said ridiculous.

We have had a feast of lazy, soft players for many years now. Today was no different. We at least had a dip at times. If you think Bailey is to blame for players passing the ball poorly or passing to team mates under pressure, then you are seriously deluded...
To bag our coach so early is a disgrace......and to say others on the board would do better is idiotic.........

They will be. I am sure it was either the West Coast/Brisbane or the West Coast/St Kilda game last year was the shortest priced game... That will be beaten this weekend. On betfair (where the real value is!!) I would think the Dees will be closer to $15 than $8. Even at that price I wouldn't touch them. In fact Geelong will probably start at $1.05.. which on betfair would mean Melbourne will be close to $20. Still wouldn't touch us at $20. It will be interesting to see what the line betting is... 60 points? 80 points?
