So, which will happen first?

A. Geelong fans getting over Leigh Colbert leaving

or

B. Geelong winning a premiership

or

C. Neither as Cat fans will never get over Colbert leaving nor will a shiny new Premiership trophy ever find a place in the trophy cabinet at Handbag Stadium.

OH, and JubJub...where's the old sense of humour gone? Y'know, when you happily take the p*ss out of other clubs and another fans and expect them to laugh along with you......you seem to lose your ability to laugh pretty damn quickly when Geelong becomes the butt of a joke......

HEY SHINS THATS FUNNY the Geelong multi-Choice

Thats funny come from a supporter of a Club that is 1/4 owned by Carlton and has to fly Interstate to make a profit.

Actually it was 17% and this was purchased by North at the start of this year so Carlton have no ownership in North.

As for flying interstate we will quite willingly do it as it means our future is secure. I would be more concerned about your own club before you start hanging s hit on ours.

Where are you going to make your money to keep afloat from. You can't make any money out of Colonial, your ground needs 10 million to bring up to standard, etc, etc.

wot u gonna do

how luck are the roos that the Foxtel and Ten and nine agreement came in, or you would be in big trouble.

let the roo cull begin

Given that Gary Fenton is over Foxtel, most us Kanga supporters cannot stop ourselves from laughing.

Geelong and a premiership Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha ha, I have wet myself............

How lucky was it that Dermie got up and kicked that goal after getting shirtfronted by Yeates back in '89.

How lucky was it that Blight put Bairstow on Matera in '92.

How lucky was it that Dean Kemp managed to spend an entire afternoon without an opponent in '94.

How lucky was it that ex-Cat Greg Williams kept on winning the contested ball back in '95.

How damn lucky was it that all these things went against Geelong on the big day otherwise we wouldn't be able to laugh as much as we do at the Geelong Football and Handbag Collectors Club.

how lucky are the roos

:o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :
These are the expressions of Kangaroos Supporters watching their beloved team play.

Yep, not surprised that you'd spend more time watching the expressions of North fans than watching the pitiful efforts of those jokers masquerading as footballers in Geelong jumpers. Yep, we know North fans are more interesting than your footy team.

Hell, if Geelong played a footy match in my back garden, I'd close the curtains.

Hey Nose-fuker (or more aptly heck-nose) it's great to see your still worried about our clubs survival...that's very heart warming.

If support is any indication on how our survival will be influenced - just look at our board mate...there are hundreds of posts from hundreds of supporters.....and your pitiful little handbag board with a career high 6 posts- friggin losers!!!!

Our supporter base is growing across the country daily and it kills dumbfuks like yourself to know that, this is why Canberra is always brought up - you wish we would die and that your stupid club would have more foresight and thought of the Canberra move themselves.

We WILL be around in 10 years time and WILL be a superpower in the AFL! - you my friend WILL NOT!

PS: Another 2 million in the bank - zoom zoom!! hahahahaha :p:p

Lots of love

i agree

This is stupid, all i have is a gripe with one of your players, Leight Colbert.

I dont want any Club to die, but I agree with your comments about the lack of Geelong supporters, just because I barrick for the Club, doesnt mean that I like Geelong the place and especially the Supporters, I think we have the least passionate supporters in the AFL.

You Roos supporters are all deluded. Geelong are in much better shape than North.

Our membership has been consistently higher than North's for ages. All we ever hear about is North's financial crisis. You guys have changed your name, played a considerable number of home games interstate, talked seriously about a private ownership and now with a new Chairman and CEO North supporters have reason to be anxious.

North's onfield situation is equally concerning. The golden era is over, no top four finish, not even finals. Also with players the calibre of Stevens, Martyn and Carey coming toward the end of their careers, the danger signs are there.

I realise Geelong's on-field performance hasn't been anything to write home about either, but Geelong have been disappointing for a while now, yet have survived and are now on the up. Whereas North have enjoyed perhaps the most successful period in the club's history, what happens it's all over?

Let's not forget the Roos have already put their hand up for a merger in '96 with the Roys. They'd probably be happy to merge with a club like Geelong right now - I wouldn't be nearly smug enough to call it a takeover - let's be realistic, but the Geelong influence would be stronger than that of the Roos in the newly formed club.

And don't even bother telling me about how great your Bigfooty board is - that won't save you. Membership is the key to survival and after this year's finals no-show, I can't see the Roos cracking 25K next year.

You're right membership is the key to survival of any league club, what has always puzzled me and you maybe able to provide an explanation is that Geelong is some 50 odd km away from its nearest AFL Club (ie: Western Bulldogs), with a population of say 100,000 and growing with all the new suburbs going up down there. You are virtually a one town team and yet they struggle to attract members. With everything that your club has going for it, it really should be a powerhouse in the AFL and yet it struggles. Why??

And no comments about them being hand-bags etc.. as Collingwood have been ****e for 50 years yet they still manage to have decent membership numbers.

How do you reason that, you cannot make any money out of Colonial, you are 3 million in debt, you need to spend 10 million to bring your ground to AFL standard, you have no 'quality' players on your list.

They are on about a par. 1000 people paying an average of 80 dollars aint gunna make a difference. It is not numbers either, it is the total amount.

That is because it makes a good story in the media. We played 4 home games interstate this year. One in Sydney because of our 2 million dollar sponsorship with Mazda which was then in turn underwritten by the Swans . Next year we will play 3 games at Canberra with the AFL paying 250,000, 70,000 from corporate entertaining and 180,000 from the gate. These 3 games are expected to draw over a million dollar profit total.

Tell me smartarse how much money are you going to make playing your 4 games at Coloniel. The one area where North has failed has been in corporate support. However this has changed this year with nearly one milllion dollars extra being raised through Coterie groups this year alone.

Bull sh it, our list is better than yours. Our top 10 will still be around for at least 3 years, our 10 kids are equeal or better than anyones.
Here is our list of younger players.
Harris
Smith
Pratt
Petrie
Teugue
Rawlings
Lange
Hilton
Morrell
Motlop D
Jones

Alll under 20, plus we will get another 2 or 3 this year. If this is not having a future than what is????

In your f ucken dreams mate, we would never merge with tossers like you. Merger is of the agenda since we were screwed by the AFL. The AFL are now our buddies because we are taking the game to Canberra and southern New South Wales.

That is where you are wrong. Membership is only one key. The major key is corporate support and expanding your membership base. North is focussing on both of these.

Too true, Chopster! In fact a new corporate membership category was introduced this year - the vice presidents' club.

90-or so memberships at $8500 each = $765,000 corporate support without necessarily involving company-based sponsorship. Innovative, eh? :D

Then there's the new sponsorship deal with Mazda, the development-state promotion/expansion grants (offered to ALL clubs, by the way), cheap/free ground and facility hire from the ACT government... pretty shrewd lot, the Roos management.

God, give North a bit of credit will you? They are doing a lot for the competition - they were the only Victorian club gain to merge with Fitzroy, they offered to play home games in Sydney to increase interest in AFL there, and they are doing the same in Canberra.

They are trying everything - for the good of the game - and everyone, even the AFL, slams them for it. At least they are trying new things. No other club was gain enough to play home games in Sydney or Canberra.

Good luck to North for the future. They have tried very hard for their survival, have not been afraid to take risks to ensure their popularity - and they deserve to be around for another 100 years!

Give them a break!

But GO CATS even more!!

Cats2001,

Apologies for the abuse us North fans are dishing out to your club on your club board. I know you are as proud of your club as we are about our's. I can't speak for the other North fans, but I think they'd be thinking the same way as me on this, so please don't take my/our jibes to heart. It's just that if anyone attacks our club, we'll attack back with interest.

In the end, I've got plenty of respect for what your administration and coach are trying to do for your club, and I wish them the best. In the end, I hope that we can watch our respective clubs for the rest of our lives.

Cheers
SB

Three Cheers

Its only a bit of fun until somebody looses an eye, GO CATs and good luck to the Roos.

Concur with Shinners, anyone who attacks North I give it back with compound interest.

A truce may appear to be in the making.

May the Cats be succussful but not at the expense of North.

Thankyou Cats2001, I can't believe the amount of s hit that is hung on North, I guess its a by product of success, which is good in a way.

Better to be hated than loved by everyone?
