When did Adelaide change?

Now, if you listen to the media, it feels like it must be 50/50 between the Crows and Power. Maybe even an advantage to the Power.

The crazy articles overrating the home town team's chances that used to be written about Adelaide now are being written about Port.

How did this happen? Or is it just the local media's bias?

I'm sure it is. Port supporters are loud at the moment and their "big" year after being down for so long has just brought them all back out.

This just happened to happen during a down year for us at a time when people are annoyed with the club. So are being quiet.

I think as soon as the form changes things will switch. We saw how big a Crows story really is compared to them after we sat quiet all summer then launched the guernsey with a Tweet and small announcement. While they were live streaming events for half a major sponsor.

Also everything is new for them, outside of the 5 rounds of losses towards the start of year when they could be excused because it was year one they haven't really faced any thing negative. Give it some time for Koch to stick his nose into every other clubs business and people will be lining up to knock them down.

Nothing has Changed except there are a disproportionate amount of Port fans in the media.

It will go back to normal one season proper starts.

The shift to the Adelaide Oval.

The media in most societies control how people think and believe about certain aspects that surround their life. If the media continue to kick the living suitcase out if the power, the general won't won't accept or embrace the new stadium. That would then be a a massive slap in the face to the move.

Also, the power over the past 5 or 6 years have has this tendency to pump up their club when they were not held to account by on field performance. We have heard the good vibes coming out if of port over the past with living the creed 1870, to we are port Adelaide. We heard about the good news stories with the 40,000 members last year but come June and July - they were still only getting 23,000 people to games. The blame would be shifted to AAMI Stadium, they will need to re write the book of excuses this year when the same paradigm doesn't actually shift.

I would expect that to be a nonnegotiable from any club.

Even Tredders has infiltrated Triple M and Channel Nine with his Pro and bias Port knowledge. Yes, we have Roo, but he seems to be neutral at every publicly-spoken chance.

He may not favour the Crows but he is still a Glenelg person at heart.

They are pumping them up for ratings. They are competing with MMM and now need to be seen to be fair.

5AA have particularly tealed up this year.

Whether the AFL have demanded this as part of the broadcast rights deal I'm not sure - but the old adage that its about ratings so the best supported team gets the best coverage is well and truly out the window.

5AA led the charge against the state jumper and take an anti crows slant every chance they get. They consistently talk us down and port up - the only focus they have on us is injury related.

Still - as Pete said above - this is no bad thing really

There is a massive campaign to get around port right atm because of the move to AO. The league knows they have one round in the chamber with port and its the AO move. If they miss the target and port collapses again it will be game over and they have invested a buttload of charity in port trying to get them to succeed. Things will be ridiculously pro-port all year so you might as well get used to it

Port Adelaide are still in that honeymoon period with a new and exciting CEO, president, coach and playing list.

They came from such a low position and now are achieving what is expected from a club.

However, we are still that consistent group that the media know. They are not excited by us at the moment. We have boring Trigg, Harper and chapman. They are just boring, stuff and uninspiring people

It seems every week, David Koch will do something that will excite the media and lift the supporters and media spirit. Let's see if they can continue to follow this path, when they lose a few games.

Suits me - you can get the media on your side for a short term but if you don't pay that back with wins, feel-good stories and finals appearances, you will be on the end of a very rough pineapple the following year when they turn their minutes and inches into 'what went wrong' and 'is there a problem at xxxx' stories instead. If they don't make the finals this year, the media interest will disappear quicker than Sydney's COLA when they signed Franklin.

On our side? Well, what positive stories have our esteemed CEO and board given the media to write in the last 18 months? Tippett? Rendell? The SOO jumper? We can't fairly complain about the media hooking into us when everything Trigg and Co. serve up to them pretty much writes itself.

About a week and a half ago Rowey pointed out to Rucci that he had written 72% of his football articles (polite version of the word rubbish) about Port Parasites, and only 28% about the Crows. Rucci made a half-arsed effort to refute that but ceased when Rowey told him he had counted them, and defied him to go back and check for himself.

That's the exact opposite of the 2 supporter bases which is around 70% Crows and 30% Port.

As if that isn't enough Rucci is also on 5aa Saturday mornings and Sunday mornings, programs which are starting to drop heavily in the ratings as the 70% concentration on Port by Rucci continues. Virtually the only air time in which Adelaide gets a mention is when there is a negative to not only comment on but explode totally out of proportion.

The inverse holds for Port Parasites.

Was I captive in a time capsule or something as I seemed to miss Port winning the premiership last year. Every reference by the Italian gelding back to last year is about the fantastic year they had last year. FK me drunk!! if it wasn't for one of the arsiest bounces of all time resulting in THAT Monfries goal, Port wouldn't have even made the finals!

I thought Rucci reached his peak in inanity when in an article in the 'tiser this week, when referring to the Port team about to be selected for the game tonight against Carlton, he referred to it as Port's "first premiership squad".

Premiership, Rooch???? Premiership????? Was that the one they won when I was locked in a time capsule and know nothing about?? Were Port playing in last year's grand final wearing Hawthorn jumpers? Does that mean you think they're a lock to win this year's premiership?? Or were you just 9/10th's pissed on cheap red vino and otherwise occupied so that you wrote that one-hand??

As others have said, just wait until they lose a few, and, god forbid, perish the thought, blah blah blah, the natural order will be restored, with even Rucci squinting through his one eye at his typewriter as he loads up the venom to vilify the current recipients of his praise.

And at last the Port Parasite honeymoon will be over, with the threat of divorce looming.

Pretty much this. The PAPs are hopelessly in debt and need a huge profit from AO this year to claw back. The media are doing their part. This is true because Kim Dillon asked Rucci about finances..... oh did that burn his britches...... "how can we make a profit if we can't share the game day profts".....

It started around when Mcarthy died.

Not uncommon, ive seen a few, 01, 02, 04, 07 and now, us winning the 97/98 flags was a huge blow to them.

This current one speaks for itself really though, they won both showdowns last year, played finals, rookie coach feel good story like sando in '12, played finals, high profile manager, burgess, membership records and polec...compared to tippet gate, no finals, tex injury.

Mark my words they will get blown away this year, they will not play finals and then the neanderthals wont show up to AO. BANK IT.
