So just been thinking about when do you switch focus from doing well overall to winning your leagues? For me I'm thinking now is the time to choose between going all out for a high position finish, or playing a conservative game to win my league matches.

my current situation:

- I'm currently 13,951th overall, 908 points off the lead.
- 24 trades left (but considering 2 more this week)

But also
- currently 7th in my cash league (5th for total points)
- should win my next couple of matches
- reasonably certain to make final 8

If I roll the dice now on some risky POD trades I could still gain some ground on the overall leader board... but run the risk of having no trades come finals time in my leagues.

So how is everyone else tracking? Anyone else changing priorities from overall to leagues?

My first aim is to beat Paige.;) I'm looking to get back in top 10k minimum this year and I'm currently 21,352. Depends where you want to finish but no reason why you can't have both a high finish and do well in your cash league. Would think that you are too far back for overall, but you'd be surprised how many points you can claw back if you have good scores in the bye rounds.

It depends on where you were planing on finishing overall.

May be a bit far out to crack the top 1000, but it really depends on where you want to finish

I'm about 700 points behind the leader, ranked just outside the 5200 mark. I'm too far back but I'll still be giving it a crack to finish as high as I can.

My aim was top 2000 and I'll trade my arse off to make it happen!

To gain 700 points over 15 rounds you only have to be 47 points per round better than the rest. That ain't much, you could easily do it with good (lucky?) captain choices alone. A few POD trades now and your laughing, getting Shane Edwards instead of Goddard could be the difference.

Of course is could blow up in your face too

Flew home from 60,000 around byes to finish 550ish last year. Chase the dream!

This. This is what I like. :D

True. But my experience is that it's usually the person with the most trades that wins the finals. There is always a few gun players that get "general soreness" and need a rest before finals time. Sideways trades FTW at the end of the year!

As i was saying above 900 or so point over 15 rounds isn't that much... you could do it with some insightful captain choices and putting the right rookies on the field. But you could also **** it up completely :)

I don't see why it matters, aren't you trying to score the most every week anyway? I'm in 4 cash leagues, I'd do my head in worrying about what the rest of them are up to. I'll usually look on a Sunday morning and see what I'm up against but that's it.
That is so true. Even though I take my league games pretty seriously, I see this game as a game against myself more than anything.

Probably not, 5000-60000 is a lot easier to make ground and pass then the top 5000.
Agree with that. Like I said earlier I am just outside the 5000 mark at 700 off the pace, but a bloke in one of my leagues is 350 points ahead of me and ranked just outside the top 200.

never give up mate!
I'm ranked 30k and I still reckon I'm going to win the overall ;)

Unless we tie I'm not sure how that is possible?

From 88,000 to 40,000 in 3 weeks - in another 3 weeks i expect to be top 5
