Other Teams
Spurs, Phoenix Suns
Backs: Cornes, Mattner, P Burgoyne, S Fisher, Gilbee, Newman, Taylor (Nicoski, SD Thompson)

Mids: Stanton, Ling, Mitchell, T Johnstone, Stevens, Priddis (Palmer, Valenti)

Rucks: Cox, Leunberger (Hampson, Cartledge)

Forwards: Pavlich, Chapman, Burton, Rioli, Dew, McKinley, Deledio (Gamble, L Hansen)

Just wondering where you guys think I can improve on this team?

I realise having Priddis and Dew on my bench for the last 4 weeks certainly hasn't helped me but I felt it was worth hanging on to those guys considering I could cover them...

Currently I am sitting 30,000 out of 200,000 in the overall competition and averaging only about 1940 a week.

I am doing well in the league although would prefer to see myself higher up in the overall comp.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Cheers

how many trades do you have left? trading palmer for a rookie and upgrading a mid-range player like stanton might be an idea. having priddis and dew back will definitely boost your scores so i wouldn't be worrying too much.

Anyone thats not in bold you should look to maybe upgrade. But judging by that team, you should sit tight for a few weeks.

appreciating the help guys but...

who would you let go first out of ling, johnstone, stevens and palmer?

and wouldnt it be silly to upgrade guys like taylor, thompson, palmer, mckinley and gamble when they will still be making more cash?

Yes it would be silly to upgrade them, thats why i said sit tight for a few weeks, the one person id probably look to upgrade first would be Dew. Otherwise be patient, its not a bad team. ;)

yeh I suppose...
I just feel like i'm lacking that judd/ablett/bartel/goodwin/k johnson superstar in the middle..

You are, if you really want one this week, upgrade Ling to one.

First thing to do - trade Leunberger up to someone like Jeff White, Kossi, or Fraser. After that I would wait a few weeks to trade, until McKinley, Gamble rise in price. Then trade one of those two down and make some cash...

problem is i can't just trade lenberger up to one of those guys when i only have 40k spare in the kitty...

Dont worry about the rucks man, you have Cox.
Now i know you have 40k in the bank, i think this is your best option;

  • Nicoski down to a rookie thats playing this week to cover Chad, that will leave you with about 200k in the bank, then you can upgrade Ling to whoever you want/can afford.

i dont know that trading ling is necessarily the best option...at an average of 93 hes far from my worst performers...

i would rather get a superstar into the forward line like a jon brown (while hes cheap) although i dont want to get rid of pav, deledio, burton, chapman (lost way too much cash on him already) or rioli and dew, gamble and mckinley still have much cash to be made....

this all gets so bloody confusing sometimes ARGGGHHHH!!!!!

maybe letting trav johnstone go is the way....although i feel hes not too far away from firing

I don't know if it's a great idea to trade Ling. I would've thought you shouldn't intend to trade a guy who cost you 475k to begin with unless he is badly underperforming, which he isn't, or you have a ton of unused trades. Trading a guy like this is a luxury - I have a similar guy in Salopek. Around the same price, not spectacular, but not a bad 6th midfielder either who can average around 90 or so. There are other areas you should be looking to fix first.

Your the one that said you want a gun mid, now you a gun forward instead. Make up ya mind.

if you really want to act now, it looks like you need to take a risk and raise some cash. Easiest place to do this as looks like your midfield. If you are willing to give Palmer a start in your 22, your could trade down somebody like Johnstone to a 83-94k rookie and upgrade elsewhere.

Best targets if you want to do that (on current form) would be guys like Wellingham (coll), Browne (Carl), or maybe Armitage if you think he'll keep his spot. Cotchin if he is ever fit (even more of a punt due to injury) is supposed to be a certain future gun. No dead cert forward gun rookies that i can see right now.

If you need to raise cash elsewhere, have a look at Wonaemirri (for defence - he is not super cheap anymore @$193k but is worth more); or maybe Jessie White (syd - ruck) who apparently was good on debut - BUT Spider is due back any day so he could potentially struggle for a game.

However, as Thommo said, if you can hold on, some of your current rookies (e.g. Palmer, Gamble, Mckinley) should help you upgrade. Valenti and SD could still deliver, just need more time. Dew could either help you raise cash or will come back and help your forwards out. Priddis is a gun IMO and from what i hear will be back soon too - which again will help you.

You have a solid team who look to have a good consistent level of quality. You should try and make your trades high impact or you might find at the end of the day that you've just traded in players who did exactly what the guys you trade out did. If you are looking at trading down, look to bring in a top elite on the flip-side of the deal not just another good player...
