Which intercol is better?

In the past two weeks there has been two intercols, SHC vs. Rostrevor and Saint Peters vs. PAC. Both games were blockbusters but what game really holds the title of THE BEST INTERCOL?

sts vs pac is the longest rivalry in the world... something like 134 years old i think and there is only about 2 games diff between wins record, despite the fact that shc and rc beat sts and pac sts vs pac is still always is no. 1 game of the year

It's too subjective a question - for those who go to SHC or RC, they'll say theirs, for those who go to Sts or PAC, they'll say theirs. Can't see anyone who goes to PAC who is going to say that the SHC/RC is better, are they now.

Do the other schools have the big interstate exchange like SHC does? Just curious.

yh rostrevor exchanges with st. kevins in melbourne and im lead to belive that st. micheals exchange wif a sydney skool but not too sure whether or not they play footy within that exchange. a numbe rof years a go SHC used to also exchange with a skool named Machellin college in melbourne. interstate exchanges are excellent, good healthy rivalry unlike intercols, bitter sweet rivalry.(e.g. oakbank, the st peters pac biffo)

In the last tewnty years of school boy footy SHC and RC have dominated state knock outs, who wants to watch a second rate intercol. dont bring up statistics which arnt even that interesting, games wen jesus was probably in the back pockett. the last team from the pac vs saints to win a state knock out was PAC IN 1985, LOL JEEZ. Hence my point that the SHC vs RC is the greatest intercol in the state and always would be.

Saints has the longest running exchange with Melbourne Grammar School as well. Every alternate year, PAC and Saints will go over to Melbourne before the season and play in a round-robbin type torunament. Last two years Saints have beaten MSG by under a goal.

And for those who think shc vs rc game is better... maybe it is a higher standard. Question was though, which intercol is better, and the tradition and rivalry that Saints and PAC has just blows the 'other' intercol out of the water.

thats probably because saints have a tradition of not going in the k.o comp hence my point thats the reason we havent won one, i think we might be entering the k.o comp next year with a bit of argument from myself and others for the first time in a long time to give SHC a run for their money and put them back in their place

saint Vs PAC is a much beter game than SHC and RT. the outcome betwwen rt and shc is always the same. SHC blow them away and win by a huge margin, its boring and predictable footy. Saints vs pac is always a great battle the last few have been nail biters with decent crowds. its alays a good hard honest contest with everyone giving it their all. id watch saint vs pac before shc anyday!

Straylan, you need to improve your comprehension skills - the question did not define whether it was better 'standard' or better 'tradition' or better 'spectacle' - it just said 'better'. So it can be interpreted in any way that anyone likes/argues.

However, it's a pointless question because of the loyalty toward schools - you prove this by saying your intercol is better, the RC/SHC will say theirs is. And BOTH are right. SHC/RC is better because it's a higher standard, Saints/PAC is better because it's been going longer, SHC/RC is better because there's only a 1 game difference over the course of the contest (good point, colincustard by the way), Saints/PAC is better because there's only a 2 game difference over the course of the contest, SHC/RC is better because it's the Blues vs the Reds, Saints/PAC is better because it's the Blues vs the Reds and on and on and on......

oi idiot, shc go over to victoria and play AKC and mate if you didnt know they are the state champs in Vic and have been a dominant side for decades even before your gampa was a fetus. saints did not win the 1989 state k.o. because rostrevor won it which leads me into my next point. in the last 20 years of the state wide knock out cup Rostrevor has won 8 to shc's 7 that figure shows that our games are more competitive due to nearly every grand final is a shc rossie rematch. lol whos wants to watch 2nd rate football, if ppl wanted to watch 2nd rate football the SANFL should be able to get more than 7,000 to a local game. people want the best which proves that the shc rc intercol is BETTER, living in the past little boys join the big boys in the present and admit that PAC nad SAINT football is only 2nd rate to the big boys of SHC AND RC!

shc vs rostrevor cannot get on the same page to saints vs pac rivalry. SHC vs RC is a big footy rivalry. Saints vs PAC is a massive rivalry in all areas, academics and co-curricular included. When you talk about shc vs ros you talk about the football teams matching up against each other. When you talk about Saints vs PAC, you are placing the schools against each other, and everything they stand for.

As for the standard, i cant speak for what it was like in the SHC vs RC intercol but i can tell you that PAC played better than both SHC and RC when we played you guys during the year. No doubt about it both teams would have given SHC a huge shake if they played that well against them. Intercol is about stepping up, which PAC have been critisized for stepping up in the intercol and not during the entire season. Get the runs on the board SHC and Rossies, get some tradition, get some pride, and then come and create a thread where the debate can actually be even.

PS, to the guy that said that RC won in 89... as big shooter's already said, saints dont nominate for knockout comp, started by Dr Shinkfield when he was headmaster. Its a tradition that will end next year though. This is the reason why the 89 team didnt win the KO comp, they went through undefeated still, yes.. beating both SHC and RC by the way

Fortunately, Dr Shinkfield is no longer st peter's headmaster. this means that there is a very good chance u will see the blues in the k/o comp next year, it should be very interesting...

However, back onto the subject of the two intercols, of course i am going to be bias to the spsc v pac game, but can the shc/rc boys not acknowledge that our rivalry has lasted nearly double the amount of years urs had, standing at an astonishing 134 years compared to 77.. understandably this results in the game v pac meaning a hell of a lot more than urs, as we are playing in a match that was conducted 2 centuries before us. the gamee also has an extremely special element to it. u can never write a team off nor pick a favourite as both teams lift to heights nobody believes possible on the day. Twas a great example this year, the saints team was easily a 5 goal better team on paper and thats the margin we saw at half time, but like i said, u can never write a team off in our intercol. pac came back over the next two quarters to narrowly lose by 4 points from a goal just before the siren.

This element of stepping it up to extreme levels is what sets our intercol from others.

the difference bewteen the intercols is that saints and pac take them off the field. Footy is pretty much same standard, crowd is about the same, except rivalry is not so therefore sts vs pac is better. i think the arguement has been settled on this stupid thread question.... sts v pac more rivalry...shc v rc, better teams.... but i dont get all the sts ppl coming on here saying if both pac and sts played like they did during intercol, theyd give shc a shake??? y not try and play like that all the time... shouldnt u be fired up and 100% ready to win every week, whether its shc, pac or cbc (no offence)... i think thats wat still separates pac, sts from rc and shc (that and the results)... sts and pac beat teams.... shc and rc demorilise teams and finish them off... i think the higher intellect of rc and shc means they dont have stupid brawls to see who has the larger penis... they play the game on the field and off the field they stay responsible...

ummmm yah... good call... some of us went up and actually, funnily enough a few sat with the rc boys.. but u wouldnt know cos it wasnt plastered through the papers giving our school a bad name cos we had an all- in with them.... see we may not pay as much as u but we know wat ettiquete is and how to conduct ourselves in public.... schools pride extends further than the footy field
