Who is our most important player this year??

I belive it to be either 1 of Josh Fraser, Leon Davis and Alan Didak (when he gets back). I rekon it is now time to move didak and leon into the midfield for longer periods to fill the hole that buckley has left now (yes it is a big hole to fill) seeing that he is going to be playing prodomenently as a forward.

It is now these 3 who have to take us on and into the future for the next collingwood era!

Travis Cloke - With Rocca not playing well last year and if Rocca doesn't pick up his game then Cloke will have to take the CHF position. Cloke will really need to step up this year along with Rusling now we don't have Tarrent anymore.
Licuria - Had a bit of a shocker last season, didn't do much at all compared to other years, will really need to stand up this season and help us out in the midfeild.
O'Bree is another who needs to stand up in the midfeild he had a good season last year and really needs to continue that form this year.
Guy Richards would be a great asset if he can get a game he will help out Josh Fraser soo much, Once we have Guy in the ruck we can oush Fraser down forward to do some damage.
If Rocca is in bad form he might be able to into the ruck to help out Fraser, which would leave CHF open for the legend Cloke.
Once Didak gets back from his injury he will help us majorly in the forward line kicking and sneaking many goals.
Medhurst is another who really needs to stand up, we drafted him for Tarrent, lets hope he can get into some good form and show Freo what they are missing out on, Finishing 2nd last in the running to Rocca is not a good start though.
Lets hope Tarrent doesn't do well next year because that would make us look stupid for letting him go, but it was time for him to go, he had given us nothing for the last 3 - 4 seasons.
Leon will have a good season I rekon he started off really well last season kicking many goals but then got his injury which slowed him down and kept him out for a while.
Swan will improve more and more each year and will become one of our most valuble players.

Needs to over-take Jeff White, Dean Cox and Sandilands if we're to give it a shake. IMO has potential to do just that in '07.

Ofcourse there's also Pebbles. But he's our most important player every year.

Anthony Rocca and Josh Fraser are the two most important, as both bring something that we can't replace.

Rocca brings goal-kicking and contested marking experience to our forward line, and he is just about the only one.

Josh Fraser is the only thing that keeps us from having the worst ruck situation in the league. Despite his lack of hit-outs, nowadays he tends to ensure that we aren't beaten in the ruck. He also contributes greatly towards our clearances by getting in the thick of it when the ball comes to ground.

I feel that if any other players on our list went down, we could cover them better than we can cover those two.

He is the wave of a next generation, and I anticipate that he will be elevated for Dawsey's recovery and be the first player to make All Australian from the rookie list.

Who is our most important player this year?
Didak without a doubt in my mind. He rescued many games last year when we looked down and out.

Who needs to be our most improved player?
Cloke definately. He needs to take much more contested marks and become a dominant force in attack.

Who needs to reclaim some form?
Richards. If he can play as well as he did a couple of years back we are in with a real chance, as we can move Fraser forward.

ben johnson, whenever he is on fire the pies are on fire, he gives us alot of drive of the half back line and is a very useful player.

 

[Dead Eye Didak]

There will be a few guys that will be important to us in 07. Definately Rocca, he needs to stand up and be a power forward for us all season, not start well and then taper off during the season. If he can maintain form/fitness could be a 70-80 goalkicker.
Rhyce & Heath Shaw, both very good footballers, Heath super impressive last season, if he can take another step from last year will be a Copeland Trophy winner this season, and if Rhyce can continue his form since his knee injury, will be vitally important for us with his run off the backline.
Richards needs to stand up so he can gives us that ruck option, we know he can play some good footy, just needs to overcome injury, and if Richards goes down again, then Bryan comes very important, as Fraser needs some support.
If Didak and Davis fire together that will make us very dangerous, particulary with their pace and goalkicking ability.
Also big years for Thomas, Pendles both very impressive last year, need to see if they can take that next step this year, if so will be very exciting.
A couple of guys we didn't see last season in the 1's, Ryan Cook, Danny Nichols could have roles to play this season very early on. Both very impressive in the pre season.

As far as importance its Rocca and Fraser. But its also important that the regular contributors keep contributing and that we get more out of Clokey and Rusling.

We already know the usual suspects, but i'll go with Rusling.
We need another forward option to kick 2-3 goals a game, and if Rusling can do that, it takes pressure of our other forwards a little.

I don't think there is such a thing as "The Most Important Player".
Anyone who pulls on the Collingwood jumper is equally important.
If they all do their job,we will be in for a good year.
But if I had to pick a guy that I want to have a stand out year,it would have to be Rocca.
He was killing them last year,before he injured his shoulder in the game against West Coast at Subiaco Oval.
If he can re capture that form,I will be one very happy Collingwood supporter.

Anthony Rocca. He needs to kick another 50 goals, or else we may be in a pickle. It's not just that, he leads from the front and looks like a man-mountain compared to the opposition defenders that match up against him. He's a presence.

Its a dead heat between Rocca and Fraser. We simply dont have enough adequate experienced reliable backups if they go down.

Fraser by a short half head because our back up rucks are scarcer than our backup CHF/FF's.

Simple in my EYES. You know that Bucks, Presti, Burns, Clement, Rocca, Wakelin, Lica, Fraser, Johnson, Didak, etc.. will basically perform to a satisfactory level. There the Senior brigrade that will almost never let you down.

For the pies to be a threat we need the likes of Richards, Lonie, R Shaw, Davis, Egan, T Cloke & Rusling to step up!

They are now third year & above players, who need to step up. IF they dont then we will finish mid table, but if most of the above players step up, then we can push for a flag.
