That night final in '95 where we played North.Peter Dean got knocked out by Schwass.
The game was up for grabs and in the 3/4 time huddle SOS spoke to the players and went off his nut at them.We went on to pump them.
Why is there no leaders like that currently???

I was at the game and SOS smashed Carey as well, Carey actually took a backward step when SOS was charging with him for the ball, unfortunately we live in different times, we don't have leaders with balls, only 2 or 3 on the current list.

Remember the game well...North came out playing the man and not the ball ..realising they were so far behind in talent all over the ground that was their only chance of an upset win ....needless to say it didn't work ..the Blues took the hits and gave a few back whilst pounding them on the scoreboard .

Spot on BM. In one way or another they sniped Williams, Dean + Spalding knowing that was their only chance of overcoming the juggernaut that Carlton were in '95.

When the Dog went down with that ankle we were under the pump but went on to smash them in the last. They were the days!! :thumbsu:

The Malcom Blight torp' from the centre of Princes Park to win the game on the siren, we have every right to just loath North....(I'm old enough to remember unfortunately :o)

Then you may be old enough to remember: 68 70 72 79 81 82 87
Not exactly devoid of good memories amongst that lot :)

I recall that Blight kick.
Listening on the radio at the time and upon description pre kick, I started celebrating.
That celebration was cut short as we all know what transpired, but you'll never forget that moment regardless.

I was at the game and remembered it as being a tough slog under lights with a glue pot centre, big Harry dominated. Dean I think copped a hospital handball from Hanna and was cleaned up by Schwass - at the time it was allowed, also Diesel was shirtfronted as well. That Nth side was super tough and we earned the right to play in the GF.

It was a contrast to the game the Cats played earlier in the day at VFL Park, they smashed the Tigers and came through wil relatively few scratches. Despite it raining duirng their game, VFL park was in beautiful condition.

I remember this clearly as my name was called over the loud speaker just as Clape took a mark in the goal square in the last quarter. You can just vaguely hear it in the background on the replay. I had to rush home as dad had been admitted to the Royal Melb as he had an asthma attack, he got stressed out as my parents were looking after my daughter who had become crook with gatsro. So that night despite the Blues winning, my dad was in the Royal Meb Hospital and my daughter was in the Royal Children's hospital - what a night.
