With Lucas a notable absentee, Shutting down Lloyd will be our priority if we want to concede under 100 points and take a win. Jamison last year played on him in round 20 and got 6 kicked on him, yet people said he was a positive in the loss. If Jamo is to return this week, does he get the job or will it go to Thornton, Setanta or Waite - who has already been instrumental this year down back?

If I was Brett Ratten this Saturday night, I would give it to Waite as he is quicker and has a much better leap which can give him an advantage for marking contests in a pack, but the only worry would be that Lloyd is much Stronger and can out muscle him. Waite did a great job on Riewoldt last week and with his confidence high, he would probably be our best choice.

your opinions please..

- Jamison to Lloyd IMO

- Waitey into the forward line which could make Ryder play back (theres talk of using him as a forward)

- Thornton could be our ''quarterback''

- Setanta could take his pick

- Also Armfield to Alwyn Davey could be a big matchup

I think Jammo will take him. He was so impressive against Richo who is a tank he'll give Lloydy a good scare IMO :thumbsu:

When will it finally sink in that Waite will be played down back this year?
Hypothetically or not....Ratts wants him back, he will rarely be put forward

Waite or Jamo on Lloyd

Would love to see Carlos get in his face though, lol!

Jamo for mine. Keep giving him the big jobs, so he can get the experience on the big men. Waite & Thornton on whoever else the Bombers throw up forward.

Cloke to CHF, with Hampson, Kreuzer and O'hailpin all taking turns in the ruck. One of them could also pinch hit up forward as well, should they need to.

lloyd aint what he use to be. wouldnt matter who plays on him(unless its whitnall thank god he gone) the question is if fevs fires up who has the bombers got to stop him?? i dont think they can stop him.

Spot on bexta. Waite WILL be played down back against Essendon. Let him settle down there, and could be a very potent weapon for us down there.

I dunno about that. Jamo seems to be defenseless in overhead 1 on 1s, as Richmond figured out when they just started bombing to Richo and he'd win the contested mark everytime. My point is, love him or hate him Lloyd has always been a great contested mark, and id be worried that he would just outmuscle Jamo everytime it was man on man. Sure, we can't not play Jamo on the big forwards cos we think he might lose, but ultimately he's going to need to do it every week and do it well so is it give him the experience he needs and sacrifice a couple goals or play someone currently more suited to the roll? Whoever that may be.

May we remind you of round 3 we're none of them could do a thing? If Fev's on fire like he was that day it'l be the same result, he's just a tough matchup for Essendon.
In that match, Fev had been kept quiet until ,Sheeds late in the second Qtr took Fletcher off Fev and put him in the fowardline. The result? The blues kicked the last 3 goals of the Qtr mainly thanks to Fev and the margin was back to 5 goals at half time. From then on Fev had his confidence up.

Ryder is a MUCH better playeer this time around. He's very quick and a great spoiler. And thrashed Mooney last week. Fev will be the key for you guy's though.

I think Waite can be damaging in the backline, especially if it is a lesser CHF that he is playing on. Let him play on whoever they throw down there, probably McPhee, and lets hope he wipes the floor with him and creates a whole heap of drive going forward.

Jamo has gotta start on Lloyd, I have a feeling he will be our fullback for the next quite a few years and he should be our number 1 choice. If he starts getting flogged then we have Setanta and Thornton to have a go

Is that because he always dominates Essendon? Round 20, did nothing.
But lets look at Fevolas domination of Essendon shall we?
13 games against Essendon for 36 goals brilliant figures, averages less then 3. Take out his top 3 results and all of a sudden its 18 goals out of 10 games and that gives him the great average of less then 2. But no Carlton fans are right, he does dominate Essendon. Of course hes only truely dominated us by kicking 5+ goals 3 times, the same amount of times he hasn't kicked a goal against Essendon. But no we cant stop Fevola.

I konw its hard to tell , but iv got the feeling our backline is starting to gel . We dont have 'fill ins' anymore , weve got players FOR the future. And forsure i can see one of Irish or Jamo holdin down Lloyd , providing that our mids can take slight control of the center. And iv noticed allot of bagging of bower , but the kid can play , and is coming along FAST. So i expect him to to close the angles on Lloyd and help out....
