It seems odd to me that Port now have to trade to get him to the club.

His Dad, Craig, played over 100 games for the Power. Since the AFL recognise the Power EST 1870 as it adorns their backs, why was he not availiable to them as a Father Son pick?

Afterall JBrown's dad only played 50 games for Fitzroy, and we are told Fitzroy is a different club to the Brisbane Lions.

A very good point well made.

Although whats a Brad Ebert ?

Because if you're from Victoria you get a different set of rules...just ask Collingwood.

Luckily Brett's dad (his name escapes me) played a few extra games and we were able to pick him up using the father/son rule. :thumbsu: Just as the clowns picked up...oh wait.

Funnily enough, Brisbane is in Queensland. Not Victoria.

Where would you like them to play

Saints,Richmond,Geelong,Essendon,Hawthorn and the finlas.

Also sides like Saints,Essendon and Dogs request to play them at the G so they can get the $$$.

The AFL creates the "fixture" as it sees fit. It could quite easily enginner a couple of games away from the MCG if it wanted to actually make things fair. E.g. play an interstate team away from home, another Melbourne team at Etihad. They played the Dogs at Etihad in Round 1 and the Saints in Round 4 or 5 so not all Melbourne teams are hell bent on playing at the G.

I'm not saying that they weren't a good team this year because they were, but having 7 games in a row at the ground where most finals and the GF is played is an unfair advantage and just plain ridiculous for a so-called professional sports league.

I didn't really rate the crows this year but if you played your last 7 games at AAMI you would've definitely played finals.

Thread fails, look up the F/S rules.

I did

What does not make sense is why the Power have similar rules to the Crows. We were founded in 1990 so it makes sense to draw from the SANFL teams we represent.
We are told Port were a club before 1997. So why do they draw from Centrals, Westies, North and WWT, who have nothing to do with, and loathed the Power in the SANFL, as well as the PAMFC? Not to mention have to play 200 games not 100.

Is it because the SANFL is a state leagues? Well the VFL was too.

Interesting the AFL acknowldeges the 1870 for marketing, but not for anything of any real value.

It could but it was fair.

Collingwood played 14 games at the MCG in the h&a season.
Melbourne played 14 games at the MCG in the h&a season.
Port Adelaide played 12 games at AAMI
Adelaide played 12 games at AAMI

We even played 9 games at the G and our home ground is Etihad.

I have no issue with the rules, but it should actually be 100 vfl/afl games for each club and that's it. There shouldnt be any SANFL/WAFL games included, the new clubs just have to wait around 15-20 years for the potential FS selections to start coming through the system.

They should and probably will once Port Power is old enough.

But they are not a new club, 1870 is on the back of the jumper. AFL have allowed it.

Yeah lets help out the clowns and give them access to 8 SANFL teams that have nothing to do with them . Funnily enough we actually could've done this and been none the poorer for it...Port have been the only club that has produced a player worthy of a F/S pick.

Also as a side note the fact that its 200 games instead of 100 is compensation for the fact that we can draw from more teams.

But why do the Power draw from these teams.

When you were in the SANFL you played against them.

If a Footscray player played 100 games in the 1970 or 80s his son will be eligible for Footscray.
If a Power player played 100 games in the 80s, they are not eligible.

Both clubs played in a state league.
