Why does everyone hate BT

I'm not even from Adelaide but I don't like how he's condescending to Adelaide (the city). It cops a bad enough irrational rap from ill-informed dip shits without a commentator doing it. He's a dumb old bigot from the past, not just for that, but for a number of other reason's.

Yep. Nailed it. Flawless, saintlike commentator, given a bad reputation out of spite by the masses. Calling players ****tas and coming up with stuff like 'big boner Brown' has nothing to do with it.

What's wrong with Big Boner Brown? I have started using it around the office and with my mates, it adds a bit of laughter and keeps things lighthearted.

I actually like BT. He's an exciting caller and funny as ****. He's better on radio than TV though. Makes for a refreshing change from the often creepy Bruce Mac and the dull as dishwater Basil, Hamish and Derwayne.

Huddo, Denis Commetti and Sandy are the best callers overall.

I actually reckon Sandy and Ed McGuire are the best callers for televised games.
ED???? FFs, just pushes his Pies agenda whenever he gets an opportunity, "Ex Pie Player X, kicks it to ex Pie player Y, oh yeah the last time that happened was during the 2010 Grand Final' Piss off Ed, no one cares.

I think he's great. Very lively.

About the only criticism I have of him is when Matty Richardson was needling him about his utterly wrongheaded prediction that Swans premiership player Mike Pyke would never have an AFL career, instead of just admitting he was wrong and copping it on the chin he was extremely narky and graceless.

Watch him in the Dogs vs Lions game this year. Got bored just after half time and came up with a new nickname which he thought was hilarious "The Package".

Stopped commentating the game and just stuffing around with Darcy screaming "The Package" into the microphone for 2 quarters. At one stage the Lions kicked a couple of goals to close the gap and he didn't even mention it. Was too busy going on about "The Package" (Who was on the interchange bench at the time).

I'd rather know what is going on in the game.

That confirmed his complete boofhead status. Wasn't funny, wasn't interesting, just pathetic and painful to listen to.

You can tell by watching.

TV play-by-play commentary is utterly redundant so I encourage callers going off on more tangents, not less.

A lot of people would prefer commentators to talk about tactics, positioning, who's running where etc. Stuff you usually can't see on screen because the focus is on 10-20 players in 50m2 of the ground.

These sort of posts are why we need an 'Unlike' button.

Not when the cameras start following bts commentary and show shots of "the package" sitting on the bench while play continues on the field.

I don't have Foxtel so am forced to listen a lot to BT. It's only when you listen to a non-BT call that you realize how terrible BT is (and McAvaney as well). I know Basil and Timmy aren't well liked, but they are like Kiri Te Kanawa when compared to the Channel 7 cacophony.

Such a relief not to hear screaming, homoeroticism, misnaming of players and that ghastly buddy-buddy stuff, or at least less frequently.

BT provided good value when he hosted the late night sports show on RSN in the 1990's. Loved his enthusiasm discussing tha USA College ' sweet sixteen ' with Ron Bongetti.

Isn't that what Boundary riders and sideline commentators are employed for? There has to be a nice balance to appease the broad range of consumers. Play-by-play is designed for exactly what its title represents. Hence why the likes of Cameron Ling and David King are voted as the most insightful or best analysts within the game.
