Why Tullermarine?

sorry if this has been discussed before, but i haven't been able to find anything about it.
having just made the trip back down to Melbourne to visit family, i took the Melrose drive rd to skip the traffic, traveling past the new home base of the bombers, which made be a little excited, as it looks like its going to be a rather impressive.
but it raised the question why all the way out there? i know of some issues they've had at windy hill with the bowls club?, with not knowing the northern suburbs to well, having lived out in the S.E suburbs most my live, but my main question is why Tullermarine, surly a closer location could of been found, Essendon airport, the showgrounds, Moneyvalley?

It is genuinely 10 minutes from windy hill, and was probably the closest to windy hill we could get secure tenure AND the land size we wanted.

It probably makes very little difference to the players as well, most of them live around that are anyway.

The show grounds was one option they had in mind early on, but really, other than that there is nowhere else where they could do what they wanted to do. They wanted the HPC as well as at least 1 full sized oval. Now they have been able to get 2 full sized ovals (MCG and Etihad sized) as well as a massive HPC and admin building. All of this and it is really only 10 minutes from Windy Hill and is still truly in Essendon the heartland.

It's not like we're in Seaford or Geelong or even Waverley. The distance and travel time are nothing.

If this was in the south or east, it would feel much less 'out in the sticks'.

Tullamarine would be a similar distance from the CBD as Waverley Park.

And barely over ten minutes from Essendon.

And also there is something called an airport in Tullarmarine. Kind of makes it a little easier for the club to have it's baseout there.
