Hi All,

Hope you are all doing better than me currently ranked about 16K.

Just about out of the race for No1 this year, I'm thinking about possible changes in DT14. Only one person can win it. How do we catch up being so far behind?

I'd love to see two changes in particular for 2014.....a Wildcard, and Unlimited Trades.

Wildcard = say Buddy, can be moved around Forward, Ruck, Mid and Back. All positions, as opposed to only dual Fwd/Back etc.

Unlimited Trades = making unlimited trades each week. Why not? I'm 1400 points off the leader, and my season is all but gone. To keep me interested at only the half way mark, I'd love to tinker with MY WHOLE team if I choose to. Much like an AFL coach to do as he pleases. Again, any opposition to this?

What else?

Unlimited trade round = Cash grab every player available. Remove team get all the best players. Can't cathch up cos you all have the same team. (I am not a fan of this)

If your issue is that you cant catch the leader here is the best way

Go back to 20 total trades.

People you pick at the beginning to be keepers have to be stood by through thick and thin except in extreme cases. Hopefully the people you backed at seasons beginning improve and the hot starters who likely got the leader in front cool down.

You have to pick and choose your rookies, You can't just get every single one.

And best of all DT goes back to being 15 ish v 15 ish rather than its current state of 5 ish v 5 ish

This season is just about perfect as it is.... well, not including my crap team...

Alternatively, back to limited trades but with 3 bench spots per position.

Unlimited trades would mean everyone has the same team nearly every week. Everyone would just stack their teams with players from teams playing Melb, GWS etc

I don't mind the FPL idea of being able to "buy" extra trades, say 80-100 points off your following weeks score for every extra trade. Would add another dimension tactically.

Only been playing for 2 years but so far this year seems pretty much perfect. Keep the interface improvements coming, although shouldn't complain as someone was telling me what it was like 5 odd years ago.

The 2 trades per round is great. I reckon it'd be hard to find someone who would want to go back to 24 total.

One thing they could change is weekly prize for top scorer. The tickets are nice but I think people would prefer cash money.

Also - they could do a dreamteam wildcard version, where they try out some different things then integrate into dreamteam proper if they work. This would have to be separate obviously.

Only change id like to see is having the option of viewing the eliminator tab from the mobile DT app. The desktop DT also has a problem with refreshing the eliminator page... just gets stuck.

Otherwise, the structure is pretty good. Piss off Monday night games though. Im assuming 95% of people missed out on Hutchings cos of this fixture. Doesnt anyone think of the Dters?

Yes I want to go back to limited trades. It keeps teams different and trades are thought out and made long term.

Rolling lockout is a must IMO.

I'd also like them to fix up the DPP trading system so you can make two swaps at once. e.g. I want to trade Scotland to Nicholls this week, so I should be able to swap Staker into defence into Scotland's spot, Cox from the rucks into Staker's spot, and then Nicholls into Cox's spot in the rucks.

best 22 every week... unique captain every week ie can't have the same captain twice

This would open the game up big time if your best 22 scores count like in the upcoming byes, Scotland's 50 gets replaced by Terlich's score and you are rewarded for having a good even side. The idea of locking out a selected captain (maybe even for two rounds) so you are forced to make some calls would also be brilliant.

Back to limited trades. Definitely makes it more strategic and genuinely tests DT footy knowledge.
Even though thats how the elite DTer likes it, thats not gonna happen sadly. If it does, it'll be a large amount of trades anyway.
I'd like to see it go back to non reversable trades though.

Why? Personally I like being able to set out my team how I like it as soon as lockout ends and then go back to it later if team selections or late outs force me to change my trades. I like being able to look at my team now and seeing Stanton and Swallow in it rather than Murphy and O'Meara. Not everybody wants to or is able to wait until Friday night between 6:30 and 7pm every week to get every skerrick of information possible before making their trades for the week, and being screwed if they make a trade before that and a late out forces a change of plans.

If you don't like reversible trades, don't use them. It doesn't affect you if other people use them. They won't be removed, nor should they be.
I don't mind them, in fact I like seeing my team as well. I'm not the scrounging around type for information either. I know it won't be removed.

But there's one reason I want them to be. To make the game harder, without making it less enjoyable. I hate how the game is getting easier and easier, and this will even it out a little, even though technically it should have no effect.

It won't make it harder on the basis of ability though, it'll make it harder on the basis of luck. If you're a meticulous planner who waits to make your trades until 6:30 on a Friday night because you can't reverse them but something holds you up one Friday night and you miss lockout, that's just bad luck. If you trade in a guy after he's selected on a Thursday night and you find out half an hour before the game that he's a late withdrawal, that's just bad luck. Removing the reverse trades button would benefit people with no life over people who have one, but it wouldn't benefit people who are good at DT over people who are bad at it.

The last thing this game needs is more bullshit luck affecting outcomes.

I would bring in a SuperSub.

One of your emergencies can be selected as the SuperSub. Then if any of your starting lineup is affected by a red or green vest and your supersub scores more than them then the SuperSub takes their spot on the field.
I like it.

Are you a yay or nay for a DT rolling lockout?

Yes please, worse price ever. Most players would be members already so tickets are useless.

I have actually enjoyed the 2 trades per week a lot so far. Suprising as I was really against it. It hasn't actually made the game easier, just different and a lot more action packed.

I would be against a rolling lock out though. Have hated it in SC so far as don't have the time or want to be on called all through the weekend.
