Yeah baby! Clinched a playoff berth with a win over the Pirates in Kalgoorlie. Dont expect to go far in the playoffs but at least we made it and kept the record intact.

Grace is gone for the season with knee surgery but what about Tucker! 19 points, 15 boards and 15 assists against the Pirates to take his triple double tally to 5 on the season! 17.4ppg, 9.4rpg and 6.4apg on the year. That man can ball.

its a good effort weather its a top 6 or top 8 format this yr after the start they had to the season and now with there point gaurd going down for the season. where did they find rashard tucker his been impressive to say the least im not a big nbl fan these dayz but 5 triple doubles this season and he came into the league midseason his an unbeleiveable player prolly shouldnt be down in the nbl but his saved perth from embaracment

What should it be? Top 6? Looks like we might finish 6th anyway...

how about a top 5?we have 12 teams, how about we not reward crap teams. That way we might have a decent playoff series with quality basketball being played.

top 8 what a joke.i go for townsville and i wouldnt be proud if they snuck into the play-offs with a losing record.

It should be top 6 and these knock out finals should be scrapped. Basketball is not the sort of game where one game should mean so much, should still be best of 3 all the way through

I beg to differ on all fronts. The one-game knockout system is one of the most exciting for the fans. Look at the NCAA tournament. Miles above the excitement of the Finals (at least in recent years). Always separates the men from the boys.

yeah, that's true - the NCAA tourney is great...but there are 64 teams involved in that. For an 8 team playoffs, I think best of 3 works well...I'm not saying that a knockout format isn't good, but if it is used it should be done throughout the entire finals series, not just the Q/F's.

ive got no problem with a knock-out system, but letting in teams with losing records isnt that great for the game

that record is now tainted,no matter what way you look at it,with the NBL's ridicoulous play-off system

Agree. The Wildcats have been an absolute rabble this year. Im amazed that there were actualy several sides with worse records. Any playoff system that affords them a spot in the post season has major problems.

I actually thought the Wildcats were pretty good this year, given the turmoil in the offseason, and the constant talent drains over the past 2-3 years.

I guess in hindsight, they coped reasonably well. Had a pretty bad run with injuries, and as you say off season turmoil, but really, they put in some downright pathetic performances this year. Watching them play made me cringe at times. At least under Alan Black they could maintain some sort of system. This year they were all over the shop.

Im probably just letting my bitterness cloud my judgement a bit. The Alan and Stephen Black crap, and the lazy approach to getting a decent import this year hurt us big time.

But we ended up with two pretty decent imports. Tucker is awesome but turns the ball over too much...still 5 or so TO's next to his triple double doesnt really bother me. Not sure Mike Ellis is up to the job and it's still annoying that S.Black isnt playing for us but if Grace can be healthy for next season and we can get the core group back of Ronaldson, Harvey, Tucker, Jackson, Lane and Burston then I think we will go alright.

Yep, a fit Matt Burtson will make a world of difference. I think he was carrying injury all year.

I disagree a bit on Tucker. Its not the 5 turnovers, its the eight or nine or, as in that last game, something like 12 turnovers. And many of them resulted in direct points for the opposition. 20 points from his stuff ups = game over. Dont care how many triple doubles he gets, its all in vain if he cant hang onto the ball.

But with more support he will continue to be dangerous. And if Ricky Grace can pump out one more year, and our reserves dont all go down injured (Rush, Latimer etc) we'll be up there. Stephen Black is lost to us now, and its a pity because he'll be playing for Australia now.

Id imagine Ellis might get one more year, more because of a lack of replacements than anything else.
