I'm a Hawks fan and at the start of the season i went to www.allthestats.com and predicted the full season, but was very realistic with hawthorn (not realistic enough on reflection), but i had us losing games i thought we would lose, and eventually had to gift us a few 'upsets' to get us into the 8.

did any of you honest have the saints 7-0 at the start of the season.

Nope, I thought the Saints would finish about 5th-6rh at the start of the year. After the Wizard Cup final though, I couyld see some good signs. Being a die hard Saints fan, you become accustomed to certain features of their game. One was that they rarely come from behind to win a match, but they did that against Geelong in the final, and they also buried Essendon in the final quarter of their game, which they rarely did. They usually tired themselves out in the first half. Anyway, they say practice games dont mean anything, well they do, especialy for a young team willing to prove themselves.

And as for the Hawks, its unfortunate they started to believe their own hype about winning the premiership after one good game. At the end of last year they looked really ominous but now they look as weak as they did this time last year.

I did that same thing pre season. And honestly, I had us on top! I don't know about after rd7, but after rd 22 we were top (I cleared my cookies!). I actually had to be super critical and make us lose a few to be realistic, but hey! Look at us now.
Having said that, I had the pies second I think, doh!

This was mine, I changed it so the saints weren't first! (hindsight is wonderful)

I told all my friends we'd win 25 straight this year.

Obviously I was talking out of my arse & demanded finals action this year, but beyond that had no idea on a set number of wins.

There was no way I thought we'd be 7-0 this year. Hoped to make it 6-5 or 7-4 before the break and then hit the straps after that.
Hoped for 14-15 wins and 6th place. I obviously vastly underestim, ated my team, I thought this 7-0 brilliance was 12 months away.

Thats honestly my thoughts pre-season.

Every week we've faced more and more tests - beating the mind games from Bomber Thompson in Round 1, beating Sheedy's thug/rough play tactics in Round 2, beating the Adelaide hoodoo, beating the best team of the last 3 years, and winning at the House of Pain. Now we have the most challenging one - the Subiaco hangover.

If we can beat the Pies, we will have overcome many obstacles and we just need to make sure we don't get burnt out by September. Having all our players suspended helps them rest a bit - it could be one of Grant's unique plans :D

Also, you people who tipped the Pies to come second/first - you should have analysed them more.

Before the season started, I had a gut feeling the Pies would slip out of the eight. I never really did a formal placing of all the teams, but I thought the Dees, Tigers, Pies, Blues, Eagles would not go too well. My reasons for Collingwood's demise were formed after watching the Grand Final, and they have been playing like that for all of this year really. It exposed a major hole when they had no Rocca. Over 2 years, they had good fixtures, they suffered no big injuries, had an average list and made it thanks to Malthouses brilliant coaching. After making the last 2 grand finals, the motivation wouldnt be there after the crushing loss last time. The players were arrogant before the match saying 'Oh, were an improved team...we should win', and then when they lost, they were crushed.
