No speculating on alleged 'rumours'

Thanks all!

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

I can't imagine the club giving Hollands another chance after the amount that they had to work around him in 2025.

It doesn't feel like Wright's jam to work around disruptive people, no matter how talented they are. Especially if we have numerous players who are fighting for the same spot on the list.

If you don't put Carlton first, your last.

Pretty sure someone on here said that train-on players couldn't train with the club until after the draft. Hopefully find out something this week about who we have selected as train-on players as senior players return today
Yeah I think that is the go (unless they are VFL listed, then they can train from day 1 of pre-season with the AFL group).

I didn't notice Will White in any of the clips or shots from last week either.

I saw someone mention that the club might put him on the VFL list for next season and then evaluate where he is at the end of the season. If he's hit all his KPI's, we'll add him back to the list as a DFA. If he doesn't but has tried hard, we might grab him as a rookie.

Honestly, the ball is completely in his court and he needs to sort himself out. He's been given almost as many chances as Buddy and he keeps stuffing up. That brings us back to another arguement, when is the AFL going to stop being a professional sport run by ****ing amateurs?

Considering when the preseasons start, why isn't the AFL drug testing crew rolling around to the clubs unannounced on training days and say "ok boys, and ladies" pee in the little cups please. But no... the AFL says no out of season testing on the players.

Very intriguing how split everyone is on EH!

The question is "will" he get another gig. Not "should".

I think good clubs can find a way to get a career out of players with off field issues. Bailey Smith almost won a brownlow this year. Oliver won 2 CA awards with a boat load of issues throughout.

If we want to be a contender we can't just flick everyone with an issue. His contract wasn't terminated it was paid out so rumours aside whatever he did can't be too bad.

Give Travis Boak a project.

As far as talent - he's not a superstar. But he is the exact type of player we just don't have. A good kick. I find watching training report vision so depressing.

Professional footballers routinely missing kicks I would have hit with my wrong foot when I was about 12. Give me a guy who has off field issues but can actually kick the ****ing ball any time.

I relation to the last line.if it a individual sport then maybe but when its a team sport thats another level of problems with someone with off field issues. In this situation give me the focused skill deficient player. Easier to work on skills than attitude in a team environment

No offense but i think you might be underestimating how talent factors into sport.

The PR fluff version from his mouth is quite far from the version I've been informed of that had happened. Culture wise, he should be history already.
Ok, please dm me with what you’ve heard.
With respect, I’ve heard so many stories over the years about players doing certain things and equally stories that directly conflict.
I suspect that there must be serious stuff going on for the club to release him and in turn other clubs not offer him a lifeline but before I hang the bloke I’d like to know why.

Deep down we all know he's gone! This whole, delist and train-on for a spot is just duty of care optic stuff, PC AFL would frown if we didn't do it.

Plus do a Cost, Benefit analysis... it's like School Teachers complaining that they generally spend something like 70% of their time and efforts focusing on the more difficult students. I'd personally like our coaches, psychologists and others to focus their attention on our kids and players who are buying in and preparing as best as they can.

He had his chances, move on. I'm sure the AFLPA will involve themselves to make sure he's taken care of outside of AFL circles till he gets his act together.

Articles today stating we have invited Wes Walley to train for the SSP spot, would he be invited if the club thought Hollands was a genuine chance? Might also mean the club thinks it can possibly do better than White.

The tricky part answering this question is that we don't know what he has done or allegedly has done. No one has speculated on here to even give us a hint.

If what has been rumoured on other forwarums is remotely true then he shouldn't even be considered but I take those claims with a grain of salt.

My gut feel is that because the in the know posters have not been willing to say suggests what has been done is probably particularly bad and particularly personal. That indicated to me that what I have read elsewhere could have an air of truth and if this is around the mark then there is no way he should be considered.

A shame, a waste of talent and that happens more often than many realise.

I would have assumed that Elijah Hollands hasn’t been at Carlton training because he doesn’t play for Carlton?
Possibly.

…and yet the club said they were considering him for a train on opportunity.

I’ve not seen anything otherwise from the club, have you?

It seems to me until that happens, we are guessing.

Yeah, I haven’t seen anything from the club.

They wouldn't need to say anything if it's not proceeding. Probably don't need to say anything either way but obviously if he's training we'll become aware

I’d expect they would make it known if a decision were made.

He’s obviously a player of interest amongst Carlton supporters, waiting to see if he trains-on to earn a spot.

Serious question: why didn't any of the new players we brought in through trades and the draft get the #20?

It'd be a hightly sought after number following previous champions of the club like Wes Lofts, Geoff Southby, Fraser Brown, and Lachie Plowm......well, maybe not ;)

We are saving it for Cody Walker to symbolise the 20 years he is planning to be at Carlton for.

Why would a club even dangle a carrot to a guy if the answer is no from the get go?

Doesn't make list sense, doesn't make any sense regardless of context really. At worst that seems petty and cruel and a waste of time from all parties point of view.

I agree. Either we think hes redeemable in which case he should 100% be on the list or not in which case he should 100% be off it.

We had plenty of reports that bridges were burnt.

We had a few reports that there was a chance, largely off the back of Walshy trying to take him under his wing.

A club concession that he would be considered for a train on position under the right circumstances was hardly a dangled carrot.

Perhaps the small chance was to appease the “supporters” as well as trolls who cannot comprehend why behaviour and attitude could preclude a talented player who has failed to give value on his contract to the extent it was terminated from being on the list.

Love what Elijah could be, but it is not happening given the ongoing interest in other options.
