No speculating on alleged 'rumours'

Thanks all!

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

Carlton supporters never learn. Year after year we over value our players. Hollands just another in a long list.

Most of the time that's true, but with Elijah I make an exception. He was drafted at #7 in his draft year (admittedly in a very average pool) and shows great foot skills and vision.

IF he's reformed, then he could become a key player.

I agree with HSE on this. 'Lij has great skills but I don't think he sees the game as well as others.
He's almost biblical in this forum.

Please name these mythical. Biblical players that see the game better...we have alot of runners including Walsh and extractors but not a lot of players with vision.

Only a matter of time(@500 years) before biblical tales are classed as western mythology.

(ducks and runs for cover)

If training with us helps the Larjah Hollands with his troubles, I'm all for it.

He's a good, handy player.

He's no God or messiah but seems to need all planetary alignments and divine interventions to go his way from here.

It’s wild we have lots of supporters who question if Ollie and Lij are on friendly terms, just because they don’t feel the need to advertise they are on friendly terms for the benefit of our supporters every few days.

On the flip side im not sure one picture together completely squashes that rumor. Not saying there is an issue but one picture together doesnt make it impossible.

People take photos with family members they arent on great terms with all the time lol. What it does say is that if there was an issue effort is being made.

Yep. That facts are

Elijah is extremely talented
He has had moments of brilliance
He has important issues to deal with
For a 24 year old (start of next season) and 41 games he hasn’t achieved much as a player
He needs to earn his spot and that will be decision for club

If he can reach his potential he could be a heck of a player but it’s a big if

Long way to go and only time will tell.
I don’t know the answer

Unsurprisingly, a lot of defenders; Weiters, Cowan, Newman, Haynes, McGovern, Williams, Walsh, McKay
Jury's still out but; O'Farrell, Carroll.
I won't mention any of our new recruits in the forward line.

He's also slow though. He's not taking Crippa's spot. He's not taking Hewett's spot as George is stronger and more defensive.

Maybe he is competing with Cooper Lord, but I'm backing in Lord's attitude and determination.

Elijah has not shown nearly enough to suggest he should be a full time midfielder, but I'm happy to see who should miss out im the minds of others.
I rate Lord massively. I think this will be a break out year for him. Super awareness in close and sticky hands when the ball is bobbling around seems to just attract to his hands then finds someone by hands and out of congestion. Tackles with purpose and is just gonna get better with more games and bulk.

I think EH
Should be back in Carlton
It appears he only minor offended..however he made himself unavailable but so did a few others

Sounds like he's still fit....so if this guy focuses on his footy he can bring back that intensity...skills and goals probably
We've already seen good b grade work from him,I think he can lift to a grader down the track....
Whatever caused him to withdraw the club can check in on him this time, maybe he can be managed etc...its not a big deal they just need to make sure EH has his requirements and allocate time out if required...its not unusual

Id also say Cooper Lord is inside mid who does seem to be quick off the mark and good on short burst. Not sure hes a bulk kms guy who runs all day but may be wrong. I was shocked to learn hes only 6ft he does have a very long physique and seemed tall like a Patrick Cripps type. Maybe its long arms or maybe perhaps his ability to free himself up and hit targets by hand but hes got sometjing. Both him and Elijah are good at lowering the eyes but Elijah in more that half forward role who hits the scoreboard or sets up target and Lord follows the pill around the ground which is not Elijahs game, nor do I think a player who is on thin ice will be given that responsibility.

I think this is a long way off the mark with respect to what I understand the situation to be and how the club has reacted in almost unprecedented manner to terminate his contract early but let him train on to prove himself. I think he has performed as an A grader but let himself down with off field issues and the club is now in a difficult position to assess in this pre season the risk vs reward factor with this guy.

We are weighing up talent with disharmony in the locker room. It really is that simple.
Might be more than just talent vs locker room disharmony. I think there’s a question of trust and is he fair dinkum about changing and doing the right thing by the club.

EH had the last 12 months to get things sorted and redeem himself but he couldn’t or wouldn’t. Is a couple of months over preseason enough to prove he’s turned the corner?

Terminating his contract one year early was the club sending a message to all that it’s serious and players will need more than a little talent/contracts to play for the club.

But I'd say that message has been somewhat muddied by then allowing a player whose contract has been paid out through misbehaviour a second (or third) opportunity and the chance to earn another $100K+ if he's a good boy for a few months.

Potentially not a great use of club finances.

He won't get any extra money. The payout would have had caveats for that.

It comes down to trust with Elijah.
Obviously has enough talent to be on our list, but he let the club and his teammates down massively last year.

Even if he trains the house down all summer, he is no certainty, as the club has to be confident he will turn up, week in, week out throughout the season.

I like Will White. He is a solid citizen and handy small forward who will give 100% every time he trains and plays.

Will be an interesting watch and a difficult decision for the club.

I'd choose white fwiw, i think he's raw but has talent and is giving everything for the opportunity. hollands has more natural talent but he's failed to meet the standards required on multiple occasions at two clubs. Stop chasing sunk costs..

This is what I really struggle with and don't understand

He has another year on contract and they delist him and pay him out. I am going to assume $300k plus minimum.

Then they invite him back and may then sign him for another year. An SSP rookie is still around of $100k plus match payments. So if he gets back he is on more money than orginally agreed?

Jaxon Binns was paid out and moved on elsewhere. No coming back

Has this ever happened before? I know there are circumstances but it's strange
