I have to admit that whilst I have Foxtel I haven't been following the latest moves too closely. Can someone clue me in on if Foxtel subscribers will be getting some content like ESPN coming back the other way from Optus or is it only Optus subscribers who will be enjoying the benefits of access to Foxtel channels like Foxsports & Foxsports2?

I thought Foxtel is getting ESPN at the end of the year when the two providers start to share their programs and channels.

Don't know about additional costs or whatever but November 1 is the date that Optus channels will be available on Foxtel and the other way around also (if the ACCC doesn't kill off the proposed deal)

I would imagine that a channel like ESPN would be included in the Sports Plus package (which currently is just the Fox Footy Channel). Foxtel are definitely going to get it when they can.

I spoke to Foxtel today and was told that only the movie channel is certain to come across at this stage in November but Foxtel are certainly interested in ESPN but haven't finalised a deal with Optus as yet for it.

The guy I spoke to was unsure about pricing.

If there are any Optus susbsribers here can you tell me if you had to pay extra for the Fox Sports channel?

bump

I'm just bumping this one up to the top as I am interested in hearing from any Optus subscribers and whether their subscription fee went up when they got Fox sports recently or was it tacked on for nix.

Fox Sports replaced C7. Costs the same, but more content. C7 had gone downhill a lot lately; the only thing I miss is the NSL. I'm paying extra to get the footy channel, but that's the same with Fox.

I guess we will be paying more for ESPN then as it will be an additional channel and not a replacement as was C7 with Optus . I hope not but you don't get something for nothing these days. :(

I wish all the Pay-TV folks had it across the board-- would be like a slice of home for me in some ways...

Now I also wish ESPN Int'l had Major League Soccer, the same way the regular ESPN and ESPN2 back in the USA do. That would make life perfect. :)

Cheers,
William

I posted a link on KFFL in The States because I was curious to compare what we pay for our cable compared to the US. Just as I thought, we are getting stiffed (I post as Aussie Cowboy Fan over there). Interesting comparison in pricing and technolgy.

Looks like they have a lot better deal in the States, particularly those with digital cable. Reading about the deal that guy from Eastern Pennslyvania has got makes me wish I lived there, apart from the fact that I'd prefer to stay in Australia, for now at least anyway!
