I dont know if this question has been asked previously but i just wanna know wat everyone1 thinks of Jet, whether they have enough talent and music progression to stick around?
Im very impressed by not only their music but their appeal and performance, so i will be very keen to here album number 2, and i hope they have what it takes to have a long career.

As a second question, wat does everyone feel about the Vines, they went through the same period that jet are now and they are soon to release the new album i believe.

aren't they a fad band?
I hope you're right. They would have to be one of the most over-hyped bands going around. They've been judged solely on one song, Are you going to be my girl, which is their flagship.

A year ago they were nothing. Even they acknowledge this.

A friend of mine tells me they got signed on the spot, at the Duke of Windsor. Not exactly the first venue one thinks of as the place where everyone gets their big break. Talk about being in the right place at the right time.

I don't think they'll last, simply because they're mediocre. Very surprised at how big it is, particularly in the States. I was home a couple of months ago and they were playing that damn song all over the place.

Are you gonna be my Girl? I liked that tune the very first time I heard it. Simple. Effective. Better than a lot of new crap out on the air. It is wearing kind of thin with the over-exposure.

I prognosticate......one hit.

Send Chisel back over. ;)

Peace,

If I was going to be a one-hit wonder, I'd be pretty happy with Are You Gonna Be My Girl?

They'll be like most other Australian next big things: they'll disappear after 18 months or so, as, through no fault of their own, something new is fabricated for the kids and attention goes to that.

Jet will stick around - good songs..i guess a band in the right place at the right time that came out of nowhere...good on em i say..its great to have some dirty rock n roll back

Personally i hate the vines..if the singer snuffed himself tomorrow id buy a round of beers with a big smile on my face..

**** me, I don't like most of their stuff. But I'd rather listen to be my girl, than some of the other complete **** that's out now...

guy sebastian, that milkshake song, countless other 'dance' acts and every single R&B artist in the chart.

They play guitars, so at least they've got the right idea.

Dont wanna sound rude but it sounds like a few people who have replied(and i thatnk u for replying havnt listened to their album). "are you gonna be my girl" is the best song to frequent radio stations in a long while but Great_Unknown that is not thier "falgship". "roll over dj" is another good song but i dont recognise it as a better song on "Get Born". The gzman was right in mentioning "Cold Hard Bitch", i dont think they have released it but its got a kick arse sound and top lyrics. They have some really good tracks on that album and a good mix, a few sentimental songs on there and i think they can last, i know i will buy the next album.

I'd like to think they can stick around.

Whilst being unashamed with their influences, they have enough different ones to maintain interesting output. The tunes certainly are catchy, which guarantees you the all-important radio airplay.

I don't know, let's ask the Vines...

I've heard that Jet have been able to pull it together live (at recent BDO gigs...), something the Vines struggled with. And as long as The Strokes still want to king-hit them, their name will be about in the media.

Personally, I remember listening to Jet on JJJ maybe 18 months ago. I can't remember whether they had a feature album at the time or not, but there was one song that was getting some fair airplay (the name and the tune escapes me though...)

Not since "Pretty Fly for white guy" have i been so ashamed to have it as #1 on the hottest 100.

Its the biggest rip off from Iggy pops "lust for life".

P.S At least their Aussies, go Straylia!!!

Amen to that!

A bloke at work is convinced they lifted some of the bass lines from the Stones' 'Sympathy for the Devil' - I'm not convinced personally.

Jet would get hardly any publicity around here if they were from abroad. The fact is they’re a local band who have released a few top hits, which gives them plenty of coverage and ratings.

Only time will tell about them though, if they stick around for another album or two then I guess we can call them genuine, atm however I am not solved by them.

You would be suprised how well they are doing here....a little help from one ipod commercial...also have a chick flick movie coming out with "my girl" as the promotional song...the song is everywhere...

As Brent said....the album has depth, plenty of twists and turns as well...i too will certainly be buying the second edition..

As for comparisons with The Vines, I will get my chance here in Atlanta next month when they all play on the one bill with The Living End...

Rednecknow, im very envious of that gig. I got an email from the living end website telling me about it and since then ive been deen dreaming of such an event. The only other concert ive heard of that showcases three of my fave bands was a 92 gig in the states with Nirvana and Pearl Jam opening for the peppers.

Well i dont think somehow these guys compare to that line up...

But it beats the hell out of hearing about tours here of John Williamson and Colin "friggin" Hay who is still living on the glory of a boat race in 82....
