I watched a tape of the 2007 round 3 match earlier today and it reminded me of Walker being out, and then reminded me of what i read about his injury. It sounded like his shoulder pops out rather easily, as Ratts said about it popping when they went surfing. SO i ask, is this the kind of thing that will eventually get better or is he going to be in and out for his entire career between shoulder recos? I really really want to see him play this year. Also i don't think i can handle seeing the ball in Grigg' hands anymore.

Anyone with medical backround?

Of course he will. Blokes like Walks and Army will ensure Grigg will have to improve a fair bit in order to establish himself as a regular n the seniors by the end of this year. And that's exactly as it should be, competition for places. :thumbsu:

Of course he will. Surely having one shoulder injury doesn't make him injury prone. And, i'd caution supporters expecting too much from his this year. The surgery must have been significant, and it will take him a while to recover. Get some games into him this year, and set himself for next year.

Ah ... doesn't Walker have torn cartlidge in his shoulder? and when he re-injured it this year it was because the staples tore?

Fev handballed to Grigg for the match winner, so he should never get the ball again.

Excuse my ignorence, its just that he's been out several times over the last couple years with shoulder issues, so im concerned. But if you say it will be fine then I'm happy.

i would not say i have medical background, but i have had my shoulder come out about 8 times, i have never had surgry to fix it like he has, but i can tell you once it pops out you basicaly need surgry straight away if you play contact sport, i have no idea why he didnt, and played that practice game. after the first time i did it, it has came out very easy, in my sleep, taking a mark (just kick to kick), when i jumped off a diving borad, and just normal shit like that. once you put it back in place there is no pain what so ever, but the more you do it the more easier it is to come out.. but i would think once he has surgry it still my come out again, just less chance of it. should of had surgry straight away imo..

In the last 3 seasons he has played;
19 games '07
22 games '06
18 games '05

I dont really think injury has hampered his career that much has it?

I was suprised when I saw how much he has played over the past 3 years as well.
He may have been coming back from injury in that first year but the other two he doesn't seem to have missed much footy.

I've had much the same thing, must have popped my right shoulder out 2 dozen times before I had my surgery (about a year ago now). If I had my time again I would have had my surgery after the first time it popped out. As you said once you start throwing it out it becomes loose and pops out for no real reason or heavy contact.
On a brighter note now after a year my shoulder feels stronger than it did before I threw it out the first time. So as long as Walker doesnt come back too early he will hopefully be cured.

Is the name Chris Judd familiar to anyone on this board? If I'm not mistaken I'm pretty sure he has had surgery and straps both shoulders, Nick Riewodlt may be another one too.......................

Of course he'll be alright. if the surgeon didn't stuff up the surgery the first time he'd be playing this week

How bout you calm down psycho? I simply havn't followed Carlton so closely until last year, and thought he had been hampered by injury numerous times. As for Grigg, is it wrong to feel uncomfortable when he has the ball? Not because he can't dispose, but because he lacks confidence alot of the time. I just think he needs to get his confidence up before he cracks the seniors. Unfair?
People need to stop being so defensive and infuriatable when it comes to football. I'm as much of a Carlton supporter as anyone, but i don't find it nessasary to bite someones head off at the slightest remark about the club or its players, especially from fellow supporters.

I think he'll be able to string a season together.

A bit like Clokey it'll just have to be monitored, that's all we can do at this point TBH.
