Who cares. Bailey Smith multiple incidents of giving the bird, Clarkson multiple incidents of inappropriate and intimidating behaviour towards players, media and umpires. How many game have they been stood down by their clubs. I’m sick of Port being the target club and im sick of Port being focussed on anything other than winning games of footy. Free Willie.

Yes because giving the bird is akin to threatening someone via text, the day after a footy game.

So three rodeos should be much worse, presumably...
The Danyle Pearce one wasn't worth being stood down I can't even remember it.

If no one lodged complaints at the time it isn't three rodeos for Willie, I've said it multiple time though on field threats are not a big deal the message post game was stupid however.

Luke Hodge sitting there like he'd never threatened blokes verbally on field tonight was utterly laughable & Daisy Thomas rightly called him out.

The Geelong one was registered though, just not publicly.

All we need is Campbell Brown to come out and talk about verbal behaviour on field & we'll have the good blokes angle covered.

Jeezus what a pathetic night in footy "journalism" , awful humans acting like this is ww3 and there a bunch of holy saints.

Willie needs to not post if he's angry or very annoyed but acting like professional athletes don't say incredibly mean stuff all the time is laughable.

The entire world's sports media needs to get binned asap

The double standards is what kills me. This shit has been going on since the dawn of time and no one says boo. Now someone dobs him in and everyone acts like they've never said dumb shit and made threats in footy.

Its never a problem until there is an easy target. No way any of these journalists do this in most other circumstances.

He should get a whack, but if he does - almost every player past and present should.

Wouldn't be like Port to be the watershed case now would it? Only Port may not sledge. Trouble is, even if this was watershed - there is no way in hell it ever gets this attention again and everything just slides because its bailey smiff or whatever. GOOD ON EM FOR TAKING A STAND AT LAST! they'll say, then just let it continue on unabated, their virtue sufficiently signalled.

Anyway, funny how none of them cover actual violence with consequences or drug related offenses because they are all guilty of it, the coke fiends.

One rule for some. The absolutely stacked boys club media love an easy target black man who doesnt socialise in their silverspoon elite privste school circles. Don't have to face them or feel like they are doing them wrong that way.

Let’s hear both sides of the story before piling on Willie

Threats don’t come from nothing

They won't stop now until Willie is out of the game. Bit rich from McGuire, who wanted to 'bone' some woman from the Today show back in the day

Is it too long a bow to draw comparisons to Goodes threatening to throw spears into the crowd?
I think if you view the footage, the simulated spears were not thrown in to the crowd. They were directed towards the small bunch of Carlton supporters gathered in the forward pocket section of the outer.

When you do it after every bloody game it becomes a pattern of behaviour suggesting deeper issues that require harsher punishment, unless of course the media finds it amusing because he’s a good looking white man playing for a pet VFL club.

Smith gave the bird to a Crows fan who by all accounts, including that of Rory Sloane, was yelling 'unrepeatable' personal slurs at Dangerfield as the team exited the field. Most of the commentary was that Smith shouldn't have been fined at all given the circumstances - discussion moved on to how to get fans to stop crossing the line and how they should be punished when they do.

I strongly supported Willie during the Hawthorn stuff, but these stories are not on at all. If you watch the Geelong incident from last year, Willie clearly said something to Brad Close which gets Jeremy Cameron angrier than I've ever seen him on a footy field. Georgiades is trying to physically remove Willie from the situation and in the push and shove that follows, no Port player appears to be defending Willie. It's blatantly clear that those who heard the comment/s - from both teams - found it unacceptable.

I don't care if he is suspended or not but surely you can agree that post-game threats and personal slurs (The Age reports the Geelong comment was about the player's partner) absolutely cross the line.

I agree but I want consistency in dealing with antisocial behaviour.

Clarkson the poster boy for being given too much leeway for far too long.
