Windows Update Problem - VIsta

Hey Guys

Had an ASUS laptop for about five months however now Windows Update isn't working (yet I 'updated' nine things when I last shut down). Any time I try to update the windows update through windows explorer manually, windows explorer just shuts down (so guessing virus). Any clue what it could be or how to fix it?

EDIT: Avast Home Edition picked up nothing (except four unscanable files I didn't want to touch, don't know whether it is safe to delete) and AVG picked up nothing except a few cookies.

Sorry for the bump, but I have figured out the problem, just not sure how to go about it.
The problem also involved someone externally entering my computer and going through my files (kind of obvious when they try and turn on my webcam), so I have disconnected my laptop from the internet.

The virus acts through a file called csrss.exe which can't be ended as it is also a vital file for the computer (fun, fun, fun).
So instead, I am just going to reformat, so as soon as I figure out how to do that I hope the problem is solved. (Got the laptop from Harvey Norman and it didn't come with the Vista installation cd).

EDIT: Computer is rejecting the Vista installation disk, so any ideas?

I'll try it, think the problem is that all I have is 64 bit Vista and XP installation cds lying around but the laptop is 32 bit.

EDIT: Tried a recovery disk that came with the ASUS but there was an error with that. At the moment I have two options, option #1 - Bring it in to get fixed or Option #2 - Buy a new hard drive (or whatever it is that stores all the data)

I am thinking of doing option #2 as that would enable me to start from scratch. Anyone know the best way to go on about this?
